maineiacsmoker Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Hey all, a similar post to this was basically ignored on another forum, so I will try it here.' I currently have an Elite 7Ti mounted at the console, and recently picked up an Elite 9Ti. My question is where to mount which unit. I currently have a Hook2 5x at the bow, and am pretty flexible about which unit to replace it with. Both of the Elite units have Ram Mounts, so that is not an issue. I will be using the front unit primarily in downscan mode, and have a xducer that can work. (Just need to buy the adapter cable). Second question is about the mapping card that came with the units. Is it necessary to have the card in the unit at all times? i was under the impression that the units came preloaded with mapping. Thanks In Advance Dave Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 25, 2020 Super User Posted February 25, 2020 9 at the console, 7 at the bow, leave map card in to use the map features included. There are maps pre-loaded, but the cards maps "should" be better. 1 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 25, 2020 Super User Posted February 25, 2020 Since you have RAM mounts, try both at both locations, and see what you like better. I'd prefer the larger unit at the bow, since I spend more time fishing than running. All I really need at the console is mapping, and basic sonar. Since you are closer, the smaller screen isn't that much a hindrance. 1 1 Quote
HenryPF Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 I am going to say it depends on what you want to see on the unit. My screens usually in 1 mode or split screen on the larger unit only. Do I really need to see DI on a 9" screen in the front? Maybe you do but I do not. There is no right or wrong answer, it just depends on what you use em for. 1 Quote
maineiacsmoker Posted February 26, 2020 Author Posted February 26, 2020 Thanks for the quick responses....I guess I'll play with them for a while to see what works....I forgot to mention that the console unit will be connected to a totalscan transducer, and the bow unit to an HDI transducer attached to the TM Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 29, 2020 Super User Posted February 29, 2020 Larger unit where you spend your time fishing 1 Quote

It’s the size of a banana. I have one and there’s no way it would fit on my minnkota maxxum. Quote
