So I was able to get some Sam Griffin baits and will get a chance to use them this weekend. I haven't done much topwater fishing with prop baits and was wondering what everyone's favorite knot was for these and other topwaters?

Use a snap?

Tie direct knot?

Tie loop knot?

What knot works best for prop baits, poppers, stick baits?

The one that won't break - but seriously, everyone is going to have their own opinion on what is best but I just use a simple poaomar for everything but mono (improved clinch it is!)

I don't believe any loop knot, snap, etc. imparts so much different action that it will matter.

Never a snap for top water especially frogs and poppers.
Loop knot is best but any will work.

Most on here will say to use mono but I don’t. I’d rather use braid

I fish with prop baits ALOT! Huge fan of them.

That being said, I do use mono, 15lb big game and i tie a palomar knot. I've never lost a bait or bass. That being said I might tomorrow but, until then that's my setup

This is exactly what I do also same knot and line.

Depending on the bait, a snap may give it more action, but I rarely do this.

In my opinion, never. I'll use a snap before a loop knot. One of the weakest knots out there.

Tie direct, palomar. One of the only types of topwater I don't use braid for. 15lb mono or copolymer is my choice for baits with a double prop.

Oh wow, as if technique-specific rods and different line for different techniques wasn't enough, now people are asking which knot to use for a specific technique?  Pretty soon people will be asking what type of shirt to wear when throwing swimbaits.

If the shirt helps catch more fish Im all for it!

Point of asking questions here is to get info from people who have much more experience individually than me, let alone combined. I don't get as much time on the water as I'd like to so i want to make the most of it, and learning from others helps make that possible.

There are some knots I won’t even consider for some techniques as there are lines.

You’re Good

I wear special swimbait socks. I know they work and nobody can tell that I'm nutz.

Gotta be Columbia PFG????

SDJ knot to a snap ring works pretty good.
