Looking to try my luck on drop shot, Texas and Carolina Rigs this year. My go to is always a ned rig or a Texas weightless. I’m using a 7’ medium-light action spinning rod with 10lb braid and a 10LB fluorocarbon leader. I’m also using 2 medium action bait caster with 10LB braid on one and the other is 15lb fluorocarbon. Thinking of picking up a new rod if needed. Just looking for some simple tried and true baits for drop shot, Texas and Carolina Rigs. Will be fishing from the bank mostly or from a kayak on smaller lakes and streams.

For me a go to for texas rigs and Carolina rigs has always been a baby brush hog. The medium power rod would be ok for texas rigs in moderate cover but for the Carolina rig I would suggest a more powerful rod. At least a medium heavy in my opinion. Also one other thing is suggest is stepping up to 30 or 40 lb braid. Should help prevent the line from digging into itself on hard hooksets.

Also forgot to mention that while I do like the zoom brush hogs I actually prefer the big bite baits version. They have them on tackle warehouse. The 4inch ones are only 5 bucks for a 25 pack...can't beat that in my opinion.

I also like the Zoom Baby Brush Hogs. I would also recommend Trick Worms, Dead ringer worms, and the Ultra Vibe Speed Craw. You will get many different answers since people like so many different baits. I don't drop shot enough to help you much with that.

I am going to look into a more powerful rod. Was thinking of a Lews or Fenwick medium heavy rod but haven’t decided on the reel.
