How often do you replace your trays?

Currently using flambeau 3700 style size and wondering how many years you go before replacing, mine only have one season but id hate to have rust

Some of mine are in year 12 or 13 and work just fine.

I have some Planos that I have used for at least 10 years. Still holding strong. As long as they aren't broken I use them. Be carful putting wet baits in your trays, that's how they rust.

As needed. If the latches are faulty, water leaks in, or the box is bent. I dont replace for the sake of it like i would with other things in fishing where fresh can be better.

The beautiful thing about the better quality trays I've got now, which are nothing too fancy anyway, is that they last.

Well I spent a fair amount of money on those really solid Bass Mafia trays last year. They are very solid but also expensive so I hope I don't have to replace those anytime soon. If the latches rust, I can get new latches from the company and replace them as well.

I have a cabinet at home for overflow storage, and those are pretty much new baits for baits I lose a lot, like jigs. So I hope those will also last a while but they never see water and rarely get opened.

 

Basically, a year is nothing. If you don't see signs of wear and failure, don't worry.

The plastic on my Plano boxes has never rusted in the 30 years I've been using them. I've had a lure or two leave some rust behind over the years, but it always cleaned right up.

I try to let my lures dry before I put them back. I also put those little silica packages in them also.

Usually until I drop one on the pavement. If they get dirty I just clean them.

Over the past couple of years I've replaced a bunch of Plano boxes - in various sizes - because they had the old style latches and sometimes my short, stubby, arthritic fingers had trouble with the old style latches.  The newer pro-style latches work better for me.

Every so often I might drop a box and it will crack or snap a hinge, something like that and I'll replace it.  Pretty frequently I'll buy a bunch of new boxes to store different stuff, but that really isn't replacing, is it.

I replace my trays when the latches fail. Or when the plastic becomes so scratched and opaque I can’t stand looking at them anymore.

 

Even cheap ones from field and stream last me for years. I am careful to dry my hooks with a clip on towel I carry before they go back in the box.

 

I recently purchased a Bass Mafia box for crankbaits. That thing is rock solid. It should survive Armageddon.

Basically like everybody has said I only replace them when they break. A big thing is make sure everything is dry before putting boxes away. When I get home I take my boxes open them up and dry everything with a fan before storing everything.

I put several of the silica packages in each tackle box, I've never had a rust issue.
