Hey everyone I’m Dan. Father of 4 youngins and just getting into bass fishing.  I fished as a kid with my dad, primarily live bait/bobber, and occasionally some dough ball trying to get some catfish. Took 20 years off due to my dad having all the hear hah.

my son started talking about wanting to go fishing so my wife approved me purchasing some gear. Now 8 months later I have 3 total rods (2 smaller ones mainly for the kids) and a backpack tackle box about half full. Most importantly though, an obsession with the bass.

best catch is a measly 11” 1.6lb whopper at a close lake.

that’s my intro.  Nice to be here and I hope I can contribute in a small way and learn a ton!

Hello and welcome to the forums. Your story of how you got started is very similar to mine. Every year, we would go camping and every year, my youngest son would ask if we could bring our fishing gear. I always had a small car at the time and we literally packed it to the ceiling so we never had room. Well after a handful of lemons with a hefty payment, I went out and bought a '92 Cadillac Brougham in cash and we could fit virtually everything in the trunk of the car, so that year I went out and dropped roughly $1000 at Cabelas on fishing and camping gear. That $1000 quickly turned into another few thousand and now we all have a number of quality rods and reels, a massive tackle bag and a new summer hobby :)

If you stick with it and put in the work on and off the water, your 1.6lb PB will quickly turn into a 3lb, and then a 5lb and so on. There's tons of great resources on this site and on these forums, and Bassresource's youtube channels has also proven invaluable.
