Return of the XCalibur Squarebill

I placed my order for in-store pickup and should be here in the next few days...

Even though my store has stock of these (not for sale until the, "spring classic"), I guess the warehouse has to ship my order to the store then I get to pick it up.  

I plan on repainting most of them anyways.

i ordered one of each color and received mine already.   both sizes dive 1-4 ft it says on the back of the package and they come with a oval split ring installed. quality seems good too. only regret is i didnt order more.

Alright, last night they were sold out, this morning in stock again at 3 bucks still. Not sure what happened last night.

Just ordered a couple rayburn red and a black chartreuse in the smaller size..can anybody who received there's already tell me the weight on these? Also does the hardware seem decent? I'm not expecting anything great hookwise for 3 bucks obviously

the small version is about the same size. I mainly ordered the big ones, they're noticeably bigger than the smaller ones

Appreciate it...I am addicted to the KVD Chartruese Sexy Shad...what are your most productive colors in the XCalibur?

all 5 of the ones that i ordered i have pretty good success with, it's all dependant on the conditions. I'll say ive caught more big fish on the red than any other color though

Just stopped by Cabelas and as others have said they are not yet for sale. I asked one of the outfitters if they could confirm what color the Citrus shad was as someone earlier had mentioned that the Citrus Shad picutre on Cabelas website was flipped with the Tennessee Special. He brought out the baits and sure enough the green/blue one on the website shows Tennessee special but the label on the box said Citrus shad. The Tennessee Special was the white body and black top. 

 

Also, on the back of the package the smaller one(2inches long) shows a weight of 1/2 oz(also just noticed the website says the small one is 2 5/16 inches but the box said 2 inches. The larger one is either 5/8 or 3/4 oz(if someone who already has these can confirm the larger ones weight that would be appreciated.) He wouldn't let me take a picture and I forgot as soon as I walked away.

So, just wanted to update everyone on this. 

 

My local Cabelas store, which is about 3 miles form my work said online they have all colors and both sizes "in stock at store"

 

Well I finally made it out today and had a similar experience from other posters in this thread. I searched the crankbait aisle and all end caps to no avail. I got approached by an employee who was very nice and eager to help. I told him what I was looking for and he immediately said, "yeah, they're in the back and nobody is allowed to bring them out or touch them unitl March 13th". 

 

I told him that Cabelas website showed them in stock at this store and it gave me the option of buying online and picking up in store. He was an awesome employee and immediately said "the remake of the old Xcaliburs are gonna be hard to get and I can't even touch them until the sale" Thanks bud, coolest BPS or Cabelas employee ever! 

 

Well, no dice but at the same time oh well. I try to buy from local shops or TW whenever I can and the only reason I was getting these is because I have a few gift cards to use. Oh well, I'll wait unitl the 13th. 

 

I did buy several RK 55's at the local tackle shop so those will have to do for Sunday!

Got to bass pro just as they opened today and people were loading their baskets with em. I picked up a few myself and upon comparison with my original Xcaliber, they have the same shape and everything but are slightly less refined. I will have to weigh them to see if they’re the same.

I hit Cabelas  early yesterday to swap an old rod for a Carbonlite 2.0 and they had two large tables loaded with these baits and I mean 6' deep neatly stacked.  You had to read the sticker on the back to determine if it was a 1/2 or 5/8 oz and as said above, both dive 1-4'.  Strangely, I was the only one looking at them on either table.  Maybe being a Thursday morning was it.

My Cabelas put them out a day early so I grabbed a few. So far they look good, hope to try them tomorrow. You can't beat them for $3 IMO. 

 

Only annoying thing it they had them all in a huge, deep dump bin with all colors and sizes mixed together. I had to dig forever to find what I wanted. Unfortunately the black back Chartreuse was hard to find and selection was scarce. I would have bought more of that color if they had any.

Forgot to pick up a black chartreuse or maybe I didn’t see that color , but the Cabela’s here did not have any 5/8 .. may have to go back

Dozens of the Rayburn, Foxy Shad, and Tennessee Special in 5/8 but sold out of the Chartreuse and Citrus shad in 5/8 down here at the San Jose Bass Pro. Got every color in the smaller version though.

Bummer, mine had quite a few Rayburn Reds but hardly any Chartreuse/Black back.

I bought $80.00 worth of them at the BPS in Independence, MO yesterday.  They had several hundred in all colors, both sizes, including Rayburn Red, in a big bin out in front of the reel display.  Not thrown one yet, but they look like good baits, especially for $2.99.

Thought you might want to check the Booyah site. See the Booyah Flex II Squarebill. Decent video there on size, shape and construction of this squarebill.

 

Probably a bit hyped up, not the squarebill being sold at BPS sale but appears to be another Booyah quality bait. 

 

I see the BR has done an article on these as well.

Stopped at our Bass Pro in Vegas and they had limited colors available.  Employee said it was the only colors sent to them.  No chartreuse black back in either size. 

5/8 oz only available in Foxy Mama and Tennessee shad.

 

1/2 oz were available in Rayburn, Foxy, Tennessee and Citrus.  
 

I bought 5 of each color except the Citrus.
