Super User PhishLI Posted February 21, 2020 Super User Posted February 21, 2020 This time last year I picked up two different size Eco Pro A-rigs at the World Fishing Expo in Suffern, NY. It's coming up again next week and it struck me that I still haven't rigged them up yet. I think they've marinated long enough and I'm ready to make my big move, but where to start? Please let me know what you like regarding jig heads. Quote
RB 77 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 I get mine sourced locally in bulk, however, a really nice jig head that I use that is available nationally is the VMC Boxer Jig Head. Nice hooks, really cool head design and good colors too. Very reasonably priced as well for what you get. Had a couple of toads down in MX eat it with one of my swimmies attached as a stand alone bait. 2 Quote

Picked up a few Dirty Jigs Finesse Swimbait Jig Heads in the same weights to try this season. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Dirty_Jigs_Tactical_Bassin_Finesse_Swimbait_Jig_Head/descpage-DJTBF.html A-Jay 2 Quote

That's primarily why I want to get going on this. One of our deeper local lakes holds smallmouth. They don't seem to achieve football status like the one's you get, but not bad either. I got my best one ever there, a 21 1/2"er last September. The fight was insane! It's impossible to explain it properly to my friends who've only caught largemouth. 1 Quote

You need to take a trip upstate to Ontario in the fall and toss that A-Rig around...Those brownies might even make @A-Jay's fish blush;) As for jigsheads, SK Squadron heads are great for the price. I actually like SK's shakey head jigs, believe it or not, when using Keithech easy shiners on the rig. 1 Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted February 22, 2020 Author Super User Posted February 22, 2020 I made it up to F&S and was able to score the VMC boxer heads in 1/8 and 1/4 oz. I rigged up three 4" Easy Shiners on the 1/8 jig heads and two dummies. The rig set up like this clocked in at 2 ozs. We'll have 50° and high sun with sw winds tomorrow, following 20s this morning, but I'm going anyway. I'll try slinging this monstrosity into a deep trench and work it up a slope towards the shore, which is my only option where I'll be wading. I'm pumped! Thanks for the suggestions fellas! 1 Quote
