PABassFish007 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Hi all, I just recieved my new Stradic ci4+ 2500 and Expride 7' M. I'm going to be using this for some of the heavier Neds and more finesey applications. I'm looking for suggestions on whether I should use braid to fluro, or straight fluro. I am also looking at suggestions on brands of braid and what lb to lb I should run. (Ive NEVER used braid before). Thanks! Quote
Pogues2300 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 I like suffix 832 10lb to 8lb fluoro. Seaguar is good. Way easier handling than even the most expensive straight fluoro. Casts like a dream. Line twist isn't an issue. 2 Quote

Mbirdsley Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 I like using stren flouro for leaders ( only time I’ll use stren) it’s cheap and works. I have no problem using flouro right off of a spool that I used to spool a reel (ie P-line , segar )provided it’s the right poundage. So basically what ever is lying around. I’m getting ready to rig my carbon light combo. So I’ll buy what ever cheap $1.99 mono backing I can find IE zebco, eagle claw. Tie that to about 50-60 yards of 30 lbs power pro braid. Than I’ll order 300 yards of 20 lbs stren flouro and have enough leader material for 2-3 years for that particular rig. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted February 21, 2020 Super User Posted February 21, 2020 I like Sufix 832 10-15 lb and Power Pro Maxcuatro Spectra Braided Line Moss Green in 20 lb. For leaders, I like to use mono when I can. Big Game & Maxima Ultragreen in 8lb. When I use FC it's either InvisX or AbrasX - never less than 8 lb. As for backing, that 2500 has (what in my world is) a shallow spool. So I'll spin on a little less than a 1/3 of a spool of 10 lb Big Game and fill the rest with the braid mainline. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted February 22, 2020 Super User Posted February 22, 2020 I also have braid to leader on spinning reel. I like Sufix 832 10lb, leader depends on type of fishing mostly copolymer or FC. I think I have backing on my ci4 2500F about half full. Quote

I use Smackdown with Big Game for a leader. For applications where I think FC is a benefit to me (pretty much just drop shotting and Ned rig) I just go straight flouro. 1 Quote
BrianNJ31 Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 2500 ci4+ and 7' M Expride is the exact setup I use for my Neds. I run 10 lb PowerPro to 8lb flouro and I can't think of a better set up for Neds. 1 Quote
bunz559 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Great setup, I have the same. I'm currently using 20lb Power Pro tied to 8 - 12lb flouro. Once this line gets a little worn, which wont be anytime soon, I'll be putting on 15lb Power Pro. I feel that 20lb braid doesn't come off the spool as smooth. 10lb is too light and you'll get all kinds of knots with a little wind. Other than my moving baits, I fish all my setups braid to flouro.
