But seriously an old timer taught me Texas rigging a slug-O when I was in grade school. Straight tail worms don’t have to be on a shakey head to get bit! Haha! Dude, the Sluggo was the bomb when I was a kid! Once I started using that instead of a spinnerbait all the time, my catch ratio skyrocketed. Maybe I should bust it out again... 1 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 One thing I’m liking this year about the coverage is some of the drone footage of the guys fishing. When it’s live with them talking about what they’re doing, as well as showing from above just where they’re casting and how they’re working the baits is pretty cool. It’s also very clear, stable footage. Amazing what they can do nowadays for outdoor filming. 4 Quote

With him being as skilled a fisherman as he is, could this be something done on purpose? Hard for me to believe he can fish 3 straight tourney days and not catch 1 scorable bass. He caught fish in the BASS open ... ... #conspiracytheories Quote

I haven’t had a chance to watch, but It wouldn’t surprise me if you guys said they’re pitching them around the edges of the mat’s first working their way in or in between tightly placed isolated clumps of reeds. That was the pattern the last time a front came through. Nope, Florida is all fished out and this technique will not catch you fish down here in our shallow basin lakes. Its NOT worth trying EVER. lol In all honesty, a Texas rigged stickbait works great around the mats, in the reeds, and in the pads. Weightless 6" stickbait in calmer conditions and 1/16-1/8oz 5" in windy conditions. The small amount of weight helps minimize the slack to better detect the bites. I learned this from the former FLW guy I fished with for years. I've seen videos of Roland Martin adding weight to help with the wind. Not new but definitely something that you'll find on one of my rods ready to go year round down here. 2 1 Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 22, 2020 Global Moderator Posted February 22, 2020 Not surprised at all. I’m sure they expected a tough day. It was pretty raw yesterday, Monday that lake will be on fire! Mike 2 Quote
Fishing_FF Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 I loved Dudley’s comments this morning about Florida bass. He said a couple degree drop in water temps and the Florida bass think the world is ending. They are worse than trying to figure out a bipolar person. Not exact, but a close paraphrase. Someone gets our fickle Florida fish. Lol 2 1 Quote

After a day like Friday it takes them few days to stabilize. The day before a strong front they seem a little finicky, the day of the front they can start shutting off and not wanting to move much, but can be caught especially on or near beds. The day after is usually the worse, most times you gotta hit her in head. Mike 2 Quote

hoosierbass07 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Still, why not plan it so it ends on Sunday? That's when most championships rounds are played. Quote

I agree, I think for the 'fans' it would be nice to end on Sunday... However, this championship round is only 10 boats I think, so not many anglers. Also, one slight benefit would be less local anglers on the water, but I'm not sure that would matter a whole lot. If I had to pick, I would start the tourney earlier in the week and just end it on Sunday. But I don't own MLF haha Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 24, 2020 Global Moderator Posted February 24, 2020 I think 3 of the top 6 are from East TN. Not exactly sure if it’s the entire field but it’s the score tracker Quote
