Something is wrong with your one hand! But seriously an old timer taught me Texas rigging a slug-O when I was in grade school. Straight tail worms don’t have to be on a shakey head to get bit!

Haha! Dude, the Sluggo was the bomb when I was a kid! Once I started using that instead of a spinnerbait all the time, my catch ratio skyrocketed. Maybe I should bust it out again...

One thing I’m liking this year about the coverage is some of the drone footage of the guys fishing. When it’s live with them talking about what they’re doing, as well as showing from above just where they’re casting and how they’re working the baits is pretty cool. It’s also very clear, stable footage. Amazing what they can do nowadays for outdoor filming.

Only two “limits” weighed in, must have been a tough day. Go Ott

Woops. I think I checked the leaderboard before they were finished. Some folks caught more when I just refreshed

Who doesn’t Texas rig a stick worm????

*raises hand*

Since finding the reverse rig, thats all I do with that bait.

I talk about it everywhere I go to.

Nobody seems to listen, I dont mind at all.

I really hope Jason Christie catches a fish in Rd 2.

With him being as skilled a fisherman as he is, could this be something done on purpose?

Hard for me to believe he can fish 3 straight tourney days and not catch 1 scorable bass.

He caught fish in the BASS open ... ...

Other than punching, The best luck I’ve had on the Lake the last month or so is with a 5” stick bait with a 1/16 unpegged or weightless.

I haven’t had a chance to watch, but It wouldn’t surprise me if you guys said they’re pitching them around the edges of the mat’s first working their way in or in between tightly placed isolated clumps of reeds.

That was the pattern the last time a front came through.

Nope, Florida is all fished out and this technique will not catch you fish down here in our shallow basin lakes. Its NOT worth trying EVER. lol

In all honesty, a Texas rigged stickbait works great around the mats, in the reeds, and in the pads. Weightless 6" stickbait in calmer conditions and 1/16-1/8oz 5" in windy conditions. The small amount of weight helps minimize the slack to better detect the bites. I learned this from the former FLW guy I fished with for years. I've seen videos of Roland Martin adding weight to help with the wind. Not new but definitely something that you'll find on one of my rods ready to go year round down here.

No Doubt ~

Tournament Organizers can't get a break on derby day weather so far.

Struggles in that mess are real.

Not surprised at all.

I’m sure they expected a tough day.
It was pretty raw yesterday, Monday that lake will be on fire!

I loved Dudley’s comments this morning about Florida bass. He said a couple degree drop in water temps and the Florida bass think the world is ending. They are worse than trying to figure out a bipolar person.

Not exact, but a close paraphrase. Someone gets our fickle Florida fish. Lol

After a day like Friday it takes them few days to stabilize.
The day before a strong front they seem a little finicky, the day of the front they can start shutting off and not wanting to move much, but can be caught especially on or near beds.
The day after is usually the worse, most times you gotta hit her in head.

Why are they having their final championship round on Wednesday instead of Sunday?

They started on Friday.

2 days of the Qualifying round

Group A fishes Fri

Group B fishes Sat

Group A fishes Sun

Group B fishes Mon

The winner from Group A and Group B advance to the Championship. Then the top 19 from Group A and the top 19 from Group B advance to the Knockout Round on Tuesday.

The Top 8 from the Knockout Round fish with the winners from Group A and B in the Championship round on Wednesday.

Still, why not plan it so it ends on Sunday?  That's when most championships rounds are played.

I think that's the point. You know, trying to be different ??

I agree, I think for the 'fans' it would be nice to end on Sunday...

However, this championship round is only 10 boats I think, so not many anglers.

Also, one slight benefit would be less local anglers on the water, but I'm not sure that would matter a whole lot.

If I had to pick, I would start the tourney earlier in the week and just end it on Sunday. But I don't own MLF haha

I think 3 of the top 6 are from East TN. Not exactly sure if it’s the entire field but it’s the score tracker

I can't watch with audio but what scent was Bryan Thrift using? It was in a jar and it looked like he was caking it on pretty thick.
