Trevor 14 Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 A year ago I picked up a Rapala walleye series crankbait rod 7 FT 1 medium moderate action. Do any of you guys out there know much about this Rod or anything at all. Plan on using it for bass but I wasn't sure if I should step up to St Croix Mojo glass cranking rod. Quote
Hartwood71 Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 I’m not familiar with it but I wouldn’t upgrade yet. See it through. As a dedicated cranker, I’m confident it will fit the bill. Given Med and Mod action, you can olat with using braid to flouro or straight flouro to see what combo works best for whatever depth your targeting. I would spend money on new rod yet. Save the cash for some other toy. So much for proof reading....”olat” = play. And I would NOT spend...... Quote
TBAG Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 I'm sure it will work but if you are truly curious I think you'll really like the Mojo Glass. I'm a huge fan of crankbait fishing and using my St. Croix Legend Glass rod is such a joy to use I find myself fishing crankbaits more than any other technique. Quote

Trevor 14 Posted February 20, 2020 Author Posted February 20, 2020 On this topic that I started just checking what you guys know or think of the zodias glass 170m rod. Quote
Dangerfield Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I'm pretty sure Rapala rods are exclusive to Canada, so you won't get much info out of this forum. Before stepping up, wait for the ice and take it on the water. Cranking doesn't require a ton of sensitivity from the rod but can be made up running braid to a leader. I would give it a shot first, load up on some shallow and deep divers and find out if it works best for you. For lipless, chucking into grass, I think I would want a fast action rod. Quote
Trevor 14 Posted February 20, 2020 Author Posted February 20, 2020 Thanks do you know anything about the Shimano zodias glass rod I have a chance to pick up a new one a hundred bucks off from a neighbour Quote
Dangerfield Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I just got a Shimano Zodias spinning rod, and never handled the glass rod. Glass rods are pretty technique specific, what do you plan on using? Quote
Trevor 14 Posted February 20, 2020 Author Posted February 20, 2020 Crankbaits and possibly chatterbaits. Quote

Born 2 fish Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 If you don’t like it for crankin try using it for jerkbaits. Quote
Trevor 14 Posted February 21, 2020 Author Posted February 21, 2020 Thanks guys appreciate all the advice. Quote
