Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 18, 2020 Super User Posted February 18, 2020 *For those that use a 1/2 oz. Strike King Red Eye Shad in fairly open conditions (i.e. sparse grass lines , rip - rap in reservoirs with gravel and rock) what co-poly , mono or FC line and size are you using currently ? In my inventory I have InvizX #12 lb. , Big Game #12 lb. , C-XX #12 lb. & Yo-Zuri #12 lb. Hybrid line . I am not opposed to going up in line size to #15 lb. or down to #10 lb. if there is a benefit in using with the 1/2 oz. Red Eye Shad for straight retrieve and especially with a yo-you retrieve (which the Red Eye Shad excels at) ... Thanks in advance for your replies ! Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted February 18, 2020 Super User Posted February 18, 2020 I use 15lb izorline xxx copoly.. I use it for lots of things honestly It's been a good budget line for me..not super cheap like big game but not expensive either..it's been durable and manageable for me Quote

I have a feeling for most lipless crank depths (except FL.) that #12 lb. to 17 lb. line size range is what most people will be using ? Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 19, 2020 Global Moderator Posted February 19, 2020 I have yet to catch one with it so my advice is useless but 12 lb mono is what I’ve been chucking it on , like all other lipless baits Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted February 19, 2020 Super User Posted February 19, 2020 All my cranks get 'pulled' on this. 1 Quote

Super User Choporoz Posted February 19, 2020 Super User Posted February 19, 2020 Try your YZH 12. I think you'll be quite pleased...assuming of course that you use KVD L&L 1 Quote

Tizi Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Based upon what you have available, I would go with the Yo-Zuri Hybrid 12 lb line. I use 10 lb same make. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 20, 2020 Author Super User Posted February 20, 2020 I do have KVD L&L spray - I'll dampen a spot on a small rag and wind line on my reel between thumb and forefinger and then also give the line on the reel a few sprays during the line wind on process ... That should work ! Quote

That should work ! That will...but what I do is give the filler-spool a good spraying a couple days before I spool up the reel so it dries - this helps manage the line while spooling it on the reel. Then every night before an outing, a couple spritzes directly on the spooled line for a maintenance touchup. Quote
Jermination Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 15 lb sunline fc assassin or 15 lb pline cxx Quote
RB 77 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 12 lb is perfect. Any of those lines will work just fine. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 21, 2020 Author Super User Posted February 21, 2020 Thanks - looks like #12 lb. Yo - Zuri Hybrid will not inhibit the lipless crank bait action if other people are using it just fine. Quote
