Jack B Nimble Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Ok, here is my complaint. The elite series just rescheduled the chickamauga tournament due to rain and flooding. These are supposed to be the "best fishermen" in the world. I live not to far from there. Chickamauga has relatively stable like level. It doesn't fluctuate like other Tva impoundments do for flood control. Day 1, today, would have been heavy rain. OH No! Day 2 it was going to be cold. OH Nooooo! The water will be muddy! We cant do this!!!CONDITIONS ARE TOO TOUGH! I get tired of these guys constantly being babied. They fish almost every tournament in prime conditions. Heck almost anyone cant catch fish when they are up shallow and all you need is a chatter bait, Wacky worm or a jig. Put these "best in the world" fishermen in some tough tournaments! Then we will see who is the best. I understand it is a money thing by Bass and these guys have put their dues in and are good. But would just like to see some tougher conditions, like Cherokee lake in August. OMG I forgot. Its HOT Then!!!! I'm done. JBN Quote
Jim- Indiana Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Being that I considered the Detroit River, St. Clair, and the Western Erie Basin my higher end "home" tournament waters, I have to somewhat agree. i don't recall a cancellation day in the 20 years that I fished .... it was "use your best judgement" As of late .... all leagues seem be be more cautious, but knowing the conditions that I braved (8-10 footers) it's likely a better idea. Regarding the Chick tournament ..... I had heard there was lots of floating debris, that was taken into consideration. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 17, 2020 Global Moderator Posted February 17, 2020 It could be flooded worse by the time they are scheduled to come back. Lots more rain coming, pretty standard . Chattanooga has been flooded since they built it. Just ask this guy Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted February 17, 2020 Super User Posted February 17, 2020 I went to a BASS weight-in in the 90s in Huntsville Alabama. The water covered the parking lot of the marina they launched from. They had to move the weight in stage to high ground. The tournament went on as scheduled. 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted February 17, 2020 Global Moderator Posted February 17, 2020 Can’t please everyone. “Use your best judgement” no longer works because common sense is extinct and if someone were to get hurt, sink a boat, or even die it wouldn’t be their fault it would be the organization’s fault. Along with common is accountability in the extinct category. It’s always someone else’s fault. Remember the FLW event last year or the year before on Big O? A co died, that pro has to live with that the rest of his life, replaying the moment they both went over, and playing what if the rest of his life. If a boat went flying down Chickemauga and hit an object barely submerged because of the flood and the angler was ejected and killed, everyone would be up in arms saying it should have been postponed. You can’t make everyone happy and at the end of the day, they’re just fish. I don’t need to fish tough conditions or a flooded parking lot to prove I’m a man. 3 Quote
redux Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 BASS has said numerous times that they reschedule events for the safety of EVERYONE BUT the Elites. Read that to mean the spectators, camera boats, first responders, etc. 1 Quote

Ever been to a weigh in? It's sponsor booth after sponsor booth all hawking their stuff. Ever been to the weigh in when it was pouring rain and/or cold? It's like a ghost town except for the die hard bassers and the sponsors are all ready getting their money. Quote
