I don't see anything unique to that reel that would contribute to the problem, and it is likely you will continue to get it with other reels. We have a few articles that might help: https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/spinning-reel-tangles.html https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/line-twist-spinning-reel.html it is possible, but never had it happen yet on some of my other spinning reels, even my older ones i have used for 40yrs, chet Quote
Eric 26 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Check inside the box to see if they sent shims. I bought a 13 fishing spinning reel I couldn’t spool properly to save my behind. I wound up taking the reel to my local tackle shop and had them spool it,he informed me the reel needed shims which were not supplied with my reel. I’m certainly no expert but looking at the photo it seems to have line lay issues like my 13 fishing reel had. It appears at least from the photo angle to be spooling unevenly top to bottom. Perhaps someone with a better eye such as J Francho might chime in. Quote
Yazman Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 I have the phantom baitcaster and I like it a lot; it's only 5.6oz! Put some ceramics in there, but gotta wait till spring ? Feels nice in hand and casts well. Only paid $60 brand new +shipped. Had the flame, thought it was ok 1 Quote

Super User soflabasser Posted January 21, 2021 Super User Posted January 21, 2021 It might be good enough for bluegills and for a quick trip but they are garbage compared to a Shimano, Penn, or other reel brand that has been proven for decades. Get it if you want just don't expect it to last you for long. You will be better off investing in a reel that can last you a decade. Like the saying goes you get what you pay for. Quote
