I am officially starting a fishing team at my university. We have 6 members and counting. We have an advisor set up, one boat as of now, and plan on trying to get another one soon. I have some questions:

- how do we get school funding?

- how do we sign up, I figured out how to register for BASS?

- can we fish multiple leagues?

- what do we need to do?

You might want to try an contact someone who already has a team.

Maybe send a DM to @everythingthatswims as he's been fishing the college series

You might want to reach out to someone on the college side of BASS

They may have some tips/tricks/ experience with what you are wanting to do.

I see the same college teams fishing both FLW and BASS.

School funding ..... That's a tough rock to squeeze water from- possibly look into other sports/activities that are currently receiving funding.

Gotta start having some fund raisers-  there are a couple local kids that show up at the boat ramp at weigh in time, set up a table and sell whatever they can including boat and car washes with all proceeds going to their high school team. My father in law donated about a dozen rods and reels on a day where it was raining but the kids still showed up.

In my experience the bass fishing community is like a brotherhood and the people are willing to help others out.

I wish you the best of luck!!

Thank you. I will reach out to him for sure, he made quite a run last year. I have been talking to a few of my friends on bass teams at other schools and they have been a big help. I plan to grind when it comes to fundraising. I am hoping we can somehow get $7500 to put towards a boat, repairs, wrapping etc. Club members will likely have to provide their own gear and such at first. Hopefully we can find a few of our favorite companies to sponsor us.

If you have a local Masons chapter you may reach out to them, they can really help out at times. Be prepared to have a good presentation if they ask.

You can throw club benefit tournaments with like a 70% payout and the other 30% going to help the team. Also hit up some local businesses for things to sell raffle tickets for. Maybe also try and get those businesses to possibly help sponsor the team. Just some thoughts

I like this. Luckily we are right on the susky. unfortunately this part of the river is very poor fishing, but we will look into that.
