Bamtam1 at Shimano says no new 70 is coming.  Same reel.  Also curious, since the SLX MGL is a JDM reel, did you order it from Japan?

Although not directed at me, I ordered my SLX MGL from Japan.

Just because a reel comes out doesn't mean you have to buy it.

I'm still using my core 100's and 50's. As well as several 50e variants. But on another note I do also have several aldebaran and two bantam mgls.

Ok so I may have a turn of events. I just got my tax return and it was way more than I thought. I know the bantam mgl is a better reel than the curado K BUT is it worth spending twice a Curado k?

the tackle junky in me is saying buy the curado and buy 150$ in tackle lol

I don't know what you are paying for a K, but you can get a Bantam for a lot less than twice (unless you are getting the K really cheap). But yes, the Bantam is worth what I paid for mine over the cost of what I paid for my K. I paid about $90 more for my Bantams.

I see it more as options. I mean there are 8 different Tatula models and 13 different Speed Spool models LOL

As I posted above, Bantam1 at Shimano has reported that there be no new version of the Curado 70...same reel and not going away.

Had a few pops last night and it gave me the confidence to pull the trigger on this! Scorpion 19 mgl 151hg! 195$ with taxes. Pretty stoked!

Dang man, I bought one about a month ago for $153. Always check those overseas websites first.

Yea I checked them. Nothing cheaper really. It was 178 plus tax.  I’m not too bent out of shape about it

Looks like nothing new was released for Shimano today on TW. ?

I'd like to see them phase out the current curado and bring a reel back with a normal thumbar. There's been a couple of curados they never kept around longer than a year or two.

What is not "normal" about the thumbar of the current Curado, the Curado K?

All I wanted was a 70 size with micro gears and maybe even an MGL spool. But since that's not happening I just ordered the micro gears from the Engetsu and will also be adding handle/worm shaft bearings to one of my Curado 71 reels to make my own.

The dollar is losing value to the yen yielding higher JDM prices.

Rest easy. That's not my reel (I don't own anymore shimanos). Just some random pic from google.
