I've seen you post this before and it has always got me thinking.  What type of knot do you use to "tie" lightweight wire leader?  I know when we go out into the ocean for sharks we use wire but its a twist style knot.

I have a couple of decades of many different types of inshore & offshore saltwater angling myself.

Quite familiar with the the use of crimps on wire & big mono as well as the haywire twist.

The AFW product is different in that it is knot-able.

I use a uni-to-uni to the mainline.

Also know, this 20 lb AFW is what I use when 'bass' fishing to keep Pike & Musky from biting me off.

Would need to go with a heavier version in order to effectively target bigger fish.

Nice fish man! My peeve (not really) is loosing a decent lure to those toothy critters while smallie fishing. Happened a handful of times. What can you do. I really don't fish for them, their just around. I can't boast for one that big but catching 40" and under on 6# and 8# test is a hoot.

Musky are so beautiful. My solution is just to accept the loss as the cost of doing business. I don't cry (just fantasize about getting an electric truck) over the extra gas I burn in my truck driving to lakes that are far away from me. But if it gets excessive, I go up in leader strength or just throw less expensive baits.

Decent number of guys toss those costly baits just for muskie. I know @SPEEDBEAD. has been known to toss a Deps 250 at a 'ski on occasion.

I'd probably just stick with the baits that are similar in price range to what most muskie baits run anyways like a Magnum Shine Glide.

I put a top limit of $60 for a bait after losing a Pizz to a pike.

I didn't even know the pond I was fishing had pike. I'd fished it like 3 times before and never saw any, but I caught a 6 pound bass and figured I'd toss some swimbaits around. I definitely cried a little.

I lost a small fortune in swimbaits over last Summer to pike in Minnesota, had to place 2 Tackle Warehouse orders and a Amazon one. No way I'm throwing a Hudd or any other high dollar bait up there. Lucky Craft Sammy's are my $$$ threshold up North ?

Bluebasser86 how do you like the Magnum Shine Glide ? Catch any bass on it ?

It swims great and does have that magic drawing power that the 185 shine glide has. I haven't got many to commit yet, but I've caught a few with it. Mainly at the price, it didn't hurt nearly as bad as buying a 250 or Hinkle trout.

Pike are a serious problem here. So many of our lakes are over run with populations of them. And I’m not talking about the big ones that you don’t mind catching; they’re the slimy snakes that are super aggressive and wreck tackle, if they don’t bite you off all together. They are such a problem that the DNR has increased the daily bag limit to 10 in an effort to try and encourage people to harvest more.

Y'all put them little fellers back and come to South Georgia and watch a gator swim off with your frog.  It'll take you six hours of labor down here to afford another.
