crankbait2009 Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 This is most likely going to relate to a very small audience, but here goes. Does anyone have a Perception Pescador Pro 100, and have a hawg trough mounted? If so, how and where do you store your hawg trough / bump board for easy out of the way access? I have seen a couple videos on youtube for storing this thing, but they don't exactly work for my kayak layout. I have seen the hawg trough mounting brackets that get mounted in the track system. I have seen the brackets that get mounted to the crate/storage box located behind your seat. Neither of which I am a fan of. I have tried storing it under my seat, but it sticks out to far between my legs and it blocks valuable deck space for holding my planos. I have attachments in my side track system which would interfere with laying the trough flat. There is the option of just laying it on the floor board, but then I'm sure it would get tangled within my legs and I'd have to fight to get it out when ready. I thought of storing it behind my seat, but I have my kayak wheels, crate, and dry bag behind me. Any opportunity to NOT have to turn around in my seat to get something, is highly desired. I don't have the comfort level yet to move around without fear of rolling. I know I am limiting myself here, but there's gotta be a happier place for it. Length is the real issue with it. That limits me. So, anyone got any better suggestions? Maybe a picture of my kayak layout as it sits, might help. Quote
Fishing_FF Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Does your tournament directors specifically require the hawg trough? Quote
crankbait2009 Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 they do, they follow the KBF rules and regulations Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 I think KBF allows you to cut the board down. So if cutting it to 26 inches helps you, I would do that first. I've seen other boards used (I think they're (Katch Co or something), and they're 26 inches. The Hawg Trough brackets are a waste of 15 bucks or whatever they cost. You can rig something better with bungee cord and zip ties. Quote
Fishing_FF Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 I would check the regs to see if the YakGear FishStik Version 2 is listed. It is KBF approved. It folds down for easy storage and what I run. I used a black permanent marker over the numbers and measuring marks so it is easy to see in photos. Ketch also makes a folding board (24” I believe) and a smaller 26” board with plastic versions in the works. Quote

Only problem was one club I fished with didn't allow it (even though they were KBF everything else) - but the TD let me borrow his HT, so I didn't whine too much. Quote
crankbait2009 Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 Hopefully I can find an ideal solution for the one I have, before I buy another Pictures have been included Quote

Just take some 3/16" wood dowel rod and stick it in those grooves on the back with some silicon caulk. It floats this way too, but adds the rigidity that weatherstripping/adhesive insulation doesn't. @crankbait2009, you definitely stuffed a lot into a 10' kayak. Quote
crankbait2009 Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 I used to have a 12'-8" kayak, and that was wasted space. Never used it. This one fits me nicely. The wheels take up a good amount of space. I could leave them at the car when unloading it, but that's a PITA to go back and forth, especially if I don't need to. Other than the 3 planos, bag of worms, and the rods/net, I don't have much. The c-tug wheels sure are bulky tho 1 Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 If it works for you, it works for you. The larger kayaks aren't any fun once you get them out of the water for sure. Sorry I can't think of a better solution for your measuring board, they are one of the more awkward things to find a space for. Quote
crankbait2009 Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 It's good. thank you though. For now, I'll just lay it down at my feet and see how that goes. Till I have a genius idea of where else to store it. I have two months to figure it out. Quote

This should allow you to store it between the gunwales at your feet. Just measure that space in front of the seat to make sure it is 26” wide there. You could also create a sleeve or sling to hold the Hawg Trough that could be mounted in a variety of places like the back of the seat, on the C-Tug, front storage area. The beauty of kayaks is you are limited only to your imagination. 1 Quote
Tizi Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 I keep mine under my seat or behind it. I have it attached with a retractor. Quote
Crankin4Bass Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 (edited) I have the same yak. Sorry I’ve never used a Hawg Trough so I can’t help you with that. The only thing I’ve seen is the Yak Attack mounting kit and their Bullwinkle. Here’s an idea using the mounting kit and a ram ball mount: Again I’ve never used either. I like the upgrades you have done. Don’t meant to hijack but how did you attach the plier holster and the pill bottle box? Great ideas! Edited February 13, 2020 by Crankin4Bass Added link Quote
Smalls Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Stick it on your bow underneath your cover Quote

Don’t meant to hijack but how did you attach the plier holster and the pill bottle box? Great ideas! the pliers holster is fastened with exterior rated velcro. I glued the velcro to the back of the pouch using a gel super glue. Then fastened everything with velcro to the hull. Nice and tight. It aint moving (no, I did not glue the velcro to the hull) As for the pill bottle box. I ended up picking those boxes up at the Dollar Tree. They came in a pack of 2, for $1. It just so happened it was the exact size as that cutout between the seat. fit perfectly. I drilled two holes in the backside of the container, big enough for zip ties to go through. Then secured them to the lower seat frame. I also drilled two holes in the bottom of it for drain holes. Prior to this mod, I had my pill bottles in the pockets of my pfd. That worked fine, but I like the idea of them out in the open for easy access. 1 Quote
redmexican5081 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 maybe a pocket/bungee combo alongside the seat but extending to the rear? attach the pocket at the rear for easy entrance when putting it away from the seating position and use a bungee to control the front portion next to the seat. It would be easily accessible and shouldn't be in the way of anything else Quote
crankbait2009 Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 the only problem I have attaching things to the seat, is during transport. For the time being, I have to transport the kayak on top of my vehicle, so that means everything has to come off the kayak, and put inside the vehicle. So that means the seat needs to collapse/fold up in order to do this. As long as the seat could fold and still have a small footprint, then I could see that working. Quote
Crankin4Bass Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Fast forward ahead to 13:25 to see how Greg Blanchard attaches his bump board. I don't know if this will work for you but it's another idea. Maybe you can attache some bungies to your crate from the rear tankwell bungie attachment points or use the existing cord. Quote
Alex from GA Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 I have an ice chest in the rear compartment and slip the board on top under bungees with the L facing forward. You can do the same thing with your crate. Quote
