DINK WHISPERER Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Forgot the power poles down and thought my motor was broken when I couldn't get on plane! Forgot to turn the kill switch to on. Spent 2 hours diagnosing the motor at the ramp because it wouldn't start. Everyone just stared as they put theirs in the water! 1 Quote
Trox Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 going from 60 to zero in three seconds as I ran up on a shallow mud bank and got stuck within view of at least 4-5 other bass boats... It was literally my first time on the water in my first bass boat... Let's just say, a big lesson was learned that day in regards to boaters safety 2 Quote

Let's just say, a big lesson was learned that day in regards to boaters safety I watched a guy do that from the bank once on the Delta (not a bass boat). Dude comes screaming by then suddenly turns right towards me. I'm like what the...? Thought he was messing with me, but I think he saw the sandbar at the last second. Boom, stopped instantly. Then I heard a loud single expletive. He sat out there waiting for tide to change and I kept fishing, yelled back and forth a few times see if he was okay. He got out and dragged it around until another boat helped him. That one was a bass boat. You gotta know the delta and pay attention. 1 Quote
r3825 Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 I'm really good at forgetting to set the brakes etc on new reels and casting like they're ready to go, but only when someone else is with me. And of course, the plug thing Quote

I just about did this same thing this spring on Chickamagua when I was running to the marina we were staying at. The lake was at winter pool and I though I was in the creek channel, which was only like 5 feet at its deepest, as I was Heading toward Island Cove when I saw a bunch of birds standing In 6 inches of water about 40 yards in front of me. Had to whip it around in a hurry or I’d have been calling Tow Boat US to pull me off of the shoal. Waaaay to close to comfort. Quote

If you’ve never been grounded on chickamauga then you haven’t fished it much 1 Quote
skekoam Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 I was throwing a brand new lipless crank bait and the thing flew off across the lake and almost hit a lady on the other side sitting on a bench. I had to play it off and looked around acting like I had no idea where it came from. 2 Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 Cut my finesse rod in half as it was laying behind me while casting an S-Waver 168. Once showed my now fiancee, then girlfriend of a few months, how strong an Ugly Stik is. I proceeded to bend it and then break it in half. Fished all day for some eats off Tybee Island, caught one 26" redfish. Proudly pulled it out the cooler to put it on the measuring board and show my buddy, who got a goose egg, my fish tacos. She flopped right off the board and swam away. 5 Quote

I did that with my first cast with a new rig a couple months ago. Blew it up so bad I had to cut it out. Spool full of brand new fluoro, too. I guess I can take some small comfort from the fact that nobody saw it but me. Quote
