I haven’t had one since 1982. I drank mostly Busch, because that’s mostly what my crowd drank.
I couldn’t just drink one. I would drink until I got happy, then would get mad, then depressed, then drive home drunk.
I Would get mean and fight over anything when drunk. It’s amazing I survived.

I don’t have any desire for it anymore, but I don’t judge anyone that does it in moderation.

But I’ve seen it and drugs totally destroy families and total strangers. So I’m against drunkenness for a variety of reasons.

I'm not a drinker. One can of beer is my limit. Sometimes I can't even finish one can. My dad used to say" for most guys, one cans is enoupgh, and two is too many".  I think for many people, my dad was right.

Yeah that's not good. I will have a few beers when I'm in my shop working or outside working. I haven't sat inside my home and drank a beer in years probably. I don't do the get drunk and mad/depressed thing. I know my limits and stop before I get there. On a rare occasion like when we have a pool party or something and an entire day of firends & activities, maybe I'll have more than my limit, but even then I'm not a mean drunk but a jokester being silly.

Alcohol can absolutely cause problems for people, that I'm not debating. It doesn't for me or my family/friends.

Miller Lite guy here. I don’t venture too far away from that. I did have a Killians last summer at a baseball game and enjoyed that, I’ll have to grab some more. I’ve tried others but not a fan. My brother is a beer snob, my dad likes to try other types. I stick to what works for me.

Sounds like you've definitely had some poor experiences with alcoholism in your family that's left a bitter taste in your mouth. That's too bad.

I've never experienced this myself. The drinkers that I do know are just every day kind of people that don't take it to any kind of extreme. it doesn't hurt their families, jobs, or health. They aren't "self medicating", either. You see that thrown around a whole lot by people who don't drink and I find it rather funny, or maybe just ignorance. I enjoy the taste of beer just like I enjoy a good steak. I suppose too much of either could be bad for my health.

There are lots of people living healthy normal lives who enjoy a a few drinks on a regular basis that aren't self destructing their life, or the lives around them. This has been my experience. Unfortunately for you, yours sounds different.  Good luck.

Yes, it has. Then again, some people can easily hold 12 beers at a sitting and not act like a fool. It's amazing they can do that. I wish you the best. Thanks for the topic.

Bass, Guinness, schafly oatmeal stout, riggs, spotted cow are some of my go to winter brews. I like a glass of whiskey or bourbon as well.

Summer were either on the boat, kayaking or visiting friends. So I stick to lighter brews.

Bud light,  Budweiser,  kona, miller light,  bud light lime,  a twisted tea in the mix during those hot days.

My go to cheap beer is typically natural light. But we often visit breweries and will have a growler full of our choice.

You sound about like me. I drink a wide variety of beers. I'm not faithful to any particular one and typically don't stick to one brand for very long at a time. Natty light has always been a regular for like deer camp because it's cheap to buy in bulk. Us guys can easily put away a few cases over a deer camp weekend.

I've cut back a lot lately, however. I've had my diet in check and been pumping the weights a lot lately so watching my calorie intake quite a bit. During the warmer months I can eat or drink whatever I want with no worries but the winter months, gotta pay a little attention.

Studies have shown that up to 2 beers a day is good for your health.

Good, because I rarely drink more than two in a day -- and I have been straying from stronger beers lately as well. :)

I do love my beer though, not a fan of most mass-produced North American corn beer by any means though. For a while, I was big into the IPA scene, but I didn't drink for a while due to having gout in my feet, then got cancer and couldn't drink on chemo. By the time I could drink again, I have preferring enjoying stouts, porters and various lagers and European style pilsners more for the most part -- although I am drinking an IPA (Victory Hop Devil) right now, which is the first one I have had in a while.

I started off drinking before the craft beer revolution and later the IPA revolution hit, and my current "go to" beers are two of my favorites before the local package store had a wide variety of options --  Samuel Adams Cream Stout (low in alcohol but not missing any taste) and Anchor Porter. Guinness is always good too, but it's much better on tap so that's the beer I may order out so I buy less at home - which is where I do the vast majority of my drinking so I'm not driving.

If y'all get a chance to have an Upland wheat ale, give it a shot. It's a very good beer with a unique flavor. One of my favorites. Also, the Michelob Amber Bock is a good beer if you've not tried that one yet.

Beer, yum. Don’t care for most mass produced yellow beer. Can’t stand corona. I reject, on general principles, any beer that calls itself lite

Some of my fav breweries

Founders

New Belgium

Dog Fish Head

Boulevard

Sierra Nevada

current number one favorite beer is Founders Breakfast Stout.

I like beer but I like whiskey better, preferably Canadian (Black Velvet or Crown Royal when I have more disposable income)

I’ll have 2 or 3 drinks on the weekend (Friday and Saturday) or a holiday. That’s enough in my book the rest of the week my liver gets a rest. Don’t want to get to deep in the weeds about that subject though.

My favorite beer at the moment is Budweiser Jim Beam Copper Lager. Great taste and refreshing.

Oh wow, I'm pretty much a minority here.

I and my entire family have been around beer drinking , whiskey, Scotch you name it, my entire life.....even family owned breweries.

Drinking is a part of every function or get together whether it be a Christmas party, cook out, camping on the river or a wedding.

No pride here, I'll drink anything and often.......blame the heritage. Lol

Adding to my previous post. Not only have I never had a beer, I've never had a drink.

I find that people who are alcoholics or on their way to being so, are always talking about their drinking, and bragging about it as if it was an every day occurrence and it's normal to chug stuff all the time.

That's totally respectably. You've probably never done anything stupid that you regret because of alcohol. I was past the trying to drink as much as possible stage before I even turned 21. I learned I could handle scary amounts of alcohol at 19 or 20, and never touched hard liquor since. I still get a decent buzz off a couple of beers, and after not drinking for a while, even 5% beers do the job nicely -- so I go out of my way to keep it under 6% tops for the most part. I learned about drinking responsibly from my dad at a young age and that's not only not drinking and driving but knowing when to stop.

The entire "I drank that entire 24 rack doing kegstands" stuff was never really my thing. It's stupid beer advertising and it's sad that people buy into that.
