I agree with you, he does seem like a guy that is better suited to a 5 fish format. He very well may be plotting his way back.

With the new rules he could have fished it like a 5 fish tourney though.  Getting 5 big bass is all that was needed to finish in the top half.  Just look what Ike was able to do after skunking day 1.

He definitely could have, 5 fish a day most likely would have gotten him through to the next round. It does make you wonder though if mentally he approached it differently and just got spun out, he didn't catch a single fish.

Ike played the 5 fish format yesterday (not on purpose) but it worked out for him.

I'll have to admit I love the changes that they have made.

As a viewer nothing to me was more exciting than to watch the 2 cut days for groups A and B

Now that they added the Win and advance to the finals, it creates 2 different races on the cut day.

It really seems like they are listening to the feedback and adjusting accordingly

I agree, but changes now need to breed other changes!  Thrift and Wheeler are now being punished in the heavy hitters deal, as they are getting eliminated from having the extra day to catch a big fish towards that event .... they need to make it the big fish in the first 2 days only.

I really like the new 2lb limit.  I feel like I'm watching real fishing again.  They have the option to change the size limit for every tournament.  I hope they keep it high.

They are guaranteed a spot in the final round and the money and points that come with that. I'm sure they would take that over an extra day in the big fish thing and possibly finishing 40th overall.

While I like the idea of getting away from a dinkfest, I think they swung the pendulum too far the other way in this tournament.  It looks like Eufaula at this particular time of the year is stingy in giving up 2 lb fish.  The weight for a scorable bass here should have been lower to raise the number of fish catches.

Part of what BPT is trying to do is increase excitement in having more fish catches and having more of those catches affect the scoreboard.  This tournament did the opposite, where there were less people who caught limits than didn't.  And for viewing from TV or streaming, there really is no difference watching someone catch a 1 lb bass vs a 2 lb bass.

If you want a big fish tournament, go full on and make the minimum size 4 lbs and hold it on a body of water that can keep that exciting.  By bumping up the size limit on a lake that can't produce that many of that size during that time of year just defeats the purpose of their whole concept ("every fish counts").

While I agree, i'm sure they'll take this stop into account for next stop.  I think they're still working to find the "sweet spot" and shot at 2lb as a starting point to see what happens.

There were no issues with catching numbers of fish, and quality fish, until Mother Nature dumped 3 inches of rain on the lake the day before. You can only control so much. Look at the poor showing in the first Elite event in Florida this weekend. Caught a wicked cold front and had terrible catches despite being able to weigh in 12 inchers.

But we were all stupid and just "afraid of change" for suggesting these changes..... Hahaha

Jordan Lee has 4 fish that weigh 26-11 !!

That's what I call fishing.

Would anyone rather catch 26 one pounders?

Catching a few huge fish in one day would be great.  I'm not going to turn down catching a bunch of one pound bass either though.  It obviously depends on the body of water and time of year as well.

This ^^ except make it 6 inches of rain with the addition of rain to the north causing Atlanta dams to let water go as well. Eufaula is my home lake and I dont think this tourney could of happened at a worse time. Very surprised at the ways the guys have overcome though.

Serious question. Do you guys think the weights would be different if the line was still at one pound? Would J Lee not have caught those fish? Would he be targeting smaller fish? I am no where near the angler these guys are, my goal is to catch fish, just wondering if they now are strictly looking for fish over 2 lbs.

I don't think it would have made much difference at all. These guys are just trying to catch fish, period. On some lakes it might make a difference but I don't think it has this week.

Well that's what I thought as well, but some people are acting like now that the change was made they are all of a sudden trying to catch 4 and 5 pounders as if they weren't before.

I absolutely think it would be a completely different tournament with the old limit.  I see guys fishing more like they do in 5 fish limit tournaments.  Good fishermen dial in on a pattern.  They are dialing in on bigger fish.  There is no way to know for sure but I suspect that if the old rule was still in place,  they would be dialing in on large numbers of smaller fish like they did last year.  I also see way more people off shore than I was seeing last year.  I wonder if Jordan Lee would have made the long run under the old limit.  My guess is he would not have.

IMO the weights certainly would be different because of the sheer number of 1 pound fish on Eufaula. Even with the live coverage they arent showing all the unscorable fish being caught.  some guys have even made mention of the amount of fish under 2 pounds saying it had been a fun day.

That being said I am all for the 2 pound minimum and dont believe it should be changed.
