Hey guys, so this is a little bit of a different topic, I was chatting with the girlfriend about possibly going down south for a few days to get away from the city here in Toronto and to try out some fishing, was wondering where would be a good place to go to around march or april for some bass. Ill most likely popping the big question during this trip so hopefully you guys know some good places.

I'm not familiar with the spots for bass in FL, but I'm familiar with marriage.  Don't go way out in the sticks; go where there is more to do than fish.  Probably somewhere along the St. Johns River would be good.

You could go to Disney world near Orlando. They have a lake there you can hire a guide with. I’ve never done it but I hear it’s good. And you’d have plenty of other stuff to do.

That sounds like it would be a great option. There are some great spots in Epcot for a proposal and I bet they even have a team that can help set it up if you contact them ahead of time.

This sounds like a great idea! She loves Disney stuff and fishing so they would actually work out very well. I'll do some research

I'm going to start doing some research on this now! Thanks!

Earlier this month I caught a 12.4 on ToHo.

No good fishing in Oklahoma, nothing but a bunch of minnows. We just sit around and play banjos all day.

One of my sons lives near Dallas TX and there are plenty of good lakes within an hour or so, Ray Hubbard, Fork Lake, Tawakanee, Cooper, just name a few. Toledo Bend isn't a whole lot further.

Texas was my first thought

If you want to keep fishing, then I'd reconsider the whole proposing thing. ?

Disney is a good spot. I usually stay in Kissimmee about 6 miles from Disney. I have gone fishing with my wife there on 2 6 hour trips over the past 5 years. It costs about 350 for 6 hours, about $100 for bait (extra large shiners are $20 per dozen at the lake Toho marina), and whatever you tip the guide. As far as parks go Epcot may be a good one at Disney to pop the question. You can eat a celebratory dinner around the world there afterwards. My wife and I are going again in April. I probably won't do a fishing trip this time because we are trying to save money to redo the bathroom but always had a good time on guided trip down there. My biggest bass I caught on those trips was 5 lb 15 oz but you may get a bigger one. Lake Toho is huge (30000 acres).

Depends on the woman.  My middle brother got lucky.  His wife has been known to leave him laying sick in bed while she went up the hill on their property to hunt deer.  :teeth:  They both enjoy fishing as well.

But, yeah, this girl better like fishing.  But maybe not.  I assume you aren't going to drop to a kneeling position in the boat to propose.  A romantic setting is a romantic setting.  Which is obviously not a boat, duck blind or deer stand.  :rofl_red:

This was posted in another thread.  Lakes to fish for free from shore near Orlando, FL.
