I was interested in one until I got the same email. Way too expensive for me. When will the old Xtreme’s go on sale? Quote

Am I missing what the significant change was that increased the price by $200? Are the line guides that big of a deal? Still says SCV and using pretty much the same grip and reel seat. Looks like I will stick with the plan to get another NRX this spring. Even my Loomis Conquests I purchased new for less then $600. Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted February 17, 2020 Super User Posted February 17, 2020 St Croix should have raised the price of their highest end rods years ago. Many people refuse to fish a rod that cost less than $500. ? Quote
Randy Price Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 The only differences between the new model and the old are Daiwa Air Guide System guides and a difference finish on the handle. Not worth a $ 200.00 price increase to me. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 That's just mad. I'd be astonished if they were noticeably different to Torzites, which are an expensive guide set to start off with. If Daiwa are asking $300 a guide set from them they should have said no! Quote
newyorktoiowa57 Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 yea I don't understand the massive price increase, no thanks lol. They look completely different though. All murdered out and sexy af. Quote
thunderblack Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 Recently Loomis, Kistler, and more adding some extra coin to all their models for 2020. Then tack on the AGS guides (Daiwa changes $100 difference in the tatula elite rods) and there is your $200.00 difference give or take. I liked the old Xtreme but I wasn't a fan of the handle shape. Still a sweet rod! Quote
Tim Kelly Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 I hate most St Croix handles, so I have stripped them off two Legends and replaced them with one I find more comfortable. Seems sacrilege on an expensive rod, but it's cheaper than buying a blank and the components to do it myself at mudhole retail prices. Quote
rcjoutdoors Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 This one will be more extreme and more legendary than the previous model. The retail price is painful. This will be a classified section purchase for me if I ever pull the trigger on one. Quote

Not a fan at all. The 7'11 H is super heavy and really needs an extra stripper guide toward the handle. There's like 3 ft of blank without a guide and it drives me nuts. I'm glad they're revamping the line. Hopefully the keep the sweet teal blank! So I just purchased the new legend extreme 2020 7’4hf I was going to use it for frogging flipping a pitching and punching what do think about 7’4 hf for that in mind and I was wonder what you where throwing on your 7’11 Quote

I’d love to own one of these, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. Quote

Trust I shouldn’t be owning it either I went a st croix kick I just started bass fishing a few months ago and if it wasn’t for a credit card I wouldn’t of bought it Quote
