Some guys want one with a solid head and thick 'skin' while others prefer using them with internal jigs and like a thin skin. Then there's the salt debate; more, less, or none. How about color options. I only use three colors, but some companies offer as many as 20. If you're looking for a recommendation, give us an idea of how you plan on fishing a tube and what gear you'll be using. I use casting gear for a lot of my tube fishing and prefer 4in. and 5in.. tubes. That limits the number of offerings. See where I'm coming from? 4 Quote

However I have been venturing out with some strike king and bulk tube singles At tackle stores I found some 4inch pearl silver Venom tubes from jays in Clare mi. Kinda excited to try those for largemouth and small mouth. Quote

Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 5, 2020 Super User Posted February 5, 2020 I'm a huge fan of River Rock Custom Baits tubes as well as Right Bite and Dry Creek. The River Rock baits are softer than any other hand dipped tube that I ever fished so those are my absolute favorite. I've been fishing tubes a long time, I thought Cabin Creek made the best tubes but when they changed plastic the tubes got harder and were less effective. Gitzit made a good tube as well but they too changed plastic which made the tubes a littler harder so they didn't draw as many strikes as they once did. So here is the thing, I fish in heavily pressured waters where every angler is throwing tubes so I'm really partial to softer tubes that have more life in the water and the fish hold on a little longer. They also need to be hand dipped and if you don't think that has any affect I can assure you it does. If you watch tubes being worked in clear water you can actually see the difference, injected tubes have uniform wall thickness and so they move in the same way every time you pop the rod. Hand dipped tubes are free formed so the wall thickness has little variations so when you pop the rod it will move one way and then the next time it will move another way.
