It looks they are out of stock at most retailers. Any idea what the replacement will be and when it might be available?

Amazon still has them in stock

I know but thanks for looking for them!

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what coming next in the 50/70 size from Shimano. Maybe a Curado 70 MGL?

How's fishing in Austin TX now?

I'd be totally surprised if they have a replacement. They are around if you look hard enough.

I wish I could get out more but I mainly fish a small pond. Its fed by a spring so theres pretty much action year round.

MLK weekend was a good one for me. Temps were in the 30s but the fish were biting. Caught a couple of 3lbers and a handful of keeper sized bass.

Shimano SLX 71 MGL, you can get them on E Bay for around $150. I picked one up but I don't feel they are as comfortable to palm.

I just ordered a 70 SLX MGL just to give it a go

Cool. Let us know what you think.

Where did you order the SLX 70 MGL from?

Thanks for the info. It’s JDM right?  How is the brake adjustment dial?  I have a Curado 70 and I find the dial is a pain to adjust because it’s so small. I actually had to exchange the first one I got because it had a frozen dial.

I had an issue with the brake dial being too tight on the SLX 71,and the reel has a wider frame than the Curado 70/71 which made it uncomfortable to grip if your are fishing it for more than a few hours. The Curado frame is by far more ergonomic.  I winded up selling the slx 71.

I hope it is not SLX MGL. Already bought it and sold it.

I actually like the reel, palm as comfortable as curado 70, a lot more control than curado. No x-ship on the reel plus washer on pinion shaft bearing so shouldn’t have the same gridding issue as 70.

I sold it because I have too many 50 and 70, and I like 70 better.
