Let me first start off by saying I am a fan of this companies gear so far that I have used.  Divine Swim Jig - Awesome, with the screw lock for the trailer.  Hybrid Jig, awesome as I caught my first jig fish on this jig - still not sure what I did right (lol)?

Yesterday I come across their "Craw" style plastic and wanted to see what they were all about.  Got them home, opened the package and wow, what a "chemical, plastic" smell.  It actually caught me off guard.  I know there are baits with scents, but I just cant imagine this is the scent they were going for?  Now the plastic itself, seemed solid, good design, have not seen the action so I can not comment on that.  Without any "rudders" on the appendages I am assuming a loose flopping motion, as best guess.

Just curious if this has been anyone else's experience.

Have not looked that close.

Again, just want to be clear - I am a fan of this company, I was just shocked how much of a "chemical" smell there was when I opened the package.

I will continue to buy their jigs and hard baits, just will probably not buy anymore of their plastic offerings.

I would send them an email and tell them about. This may be a problem from there supplier they don't know about or some bad ones got past quality control from there plant.

I actually have a pack of their Stroker Craws on my desk right now so I opened it to give it a smell. Mine have a slight

plastic smell but nothing out of the ordinary. Just for the heck of it, I opened some of their other soft plastics that were in my office, from their Super 6 sacks that I have received over the winter and they all smelled about the same. Just a slight hint of plastic smell.

Maybe just leave them open for a little bit in your garage and see if they "air out" but it sounds like maybe that was an oddball pack. Just lather MegaStrike all over them, you'll be fine. ?

I've never even seen any of their plastics, but I've had really old plastics that smell strong, and a bag of worms that was left out in the sun for like a week that smelled really strong. I've used both and had really good luck with them, so don't assume your craws are no good. If you try pinching your nose and tasting them, they probably taste no different than any other plastic. The way fish sense odors is more like the way we taste flavors than the way we smell odors. That being said, if you have no confidence in them, then they're no good, so get rid of them.

Yup, and this is why you shouldn't worry too much about the plastic smell. Water-solubility is the major factor for whether bass will detect a scent. So many oil-based scents we can smell easily in the air neither attract nor repel bass.

The biggest things to avoid are DEET and SDS:
