Me and a few buddies are taking s fishing trip in early march. Help us decide which of these 3 lakes we should go to! Going for lg or sm mouth bass

I've personally done well at cave run in the past but I hear that Cumberland has been on the upswing.  Saw some real nice bass at the marinas at Cumberland last time out but boat breakdowns killed my last trip.  Been hearing the opposite of KY lake...downswing.  Good luck!

Just an opinion. My first thought would be Cumberland. Good opportunities for sm and lm and has been a solid producer for the last few years. Nothing wrong with the others either. If you go by general opinion cave run can be tough. KY lake may be in decline right now but it’s still not the worst lake in KY to fish by any means.

What type of lake are you guys most comfortable on?  Those are three very different bodies of water. That might factor in for me if I were you. You may well already know that though.

Not new to bass fishing, but a new boat owner. Had a jon bouat before, upgraded to a 16' bass tracker. Not sure that I can answer your question as I have mostly fished smaller lakes.

KY Lake can get massive and dangerous in the wind, plus the fishing is very hit and miss these days.  Scratch it off and pick between the other two.

What @BoatSquirrel said is accurate with KY lake. Cumberland is deep and it’s large. Not KY lake large and not as rough by a long shot on a windy day though. Good shot at largemouth and smallmouth there. Fishing has been good there for the last several years. Cave Run isn’t as large (6000 ish) acres. Lots of standing timber not as deep as Cumberland. Typically not as productive as Cumberland either. There are fish there though. Id go with Cumberland the way things have been lately. It’s I think 60000 acres which can be overwhelming if you let it. Tons of large creeks off the main lake. I generally pick one of the larger creeks and work my way around it. Beaver, Indian, and Fishing creek are all pretty popular but there are many others.

Out of those three, hands down Cumberland.

Both SM and LM and not infested with Asian Carp like KY lake.
