Never tried it, but it would be a good way to sneak up on them. Dealing with a fish could be difficult once they're boatside though.

I think it would be a great for sneaking up on them but you'd definitely want one stable kayak for sure. The Asian carpet are an invasive species here and DNR wants us to kill all that we can. I usually just leave them on the bank for the coons to eat.

I shoot quite a few of the silver and bighead Asian carp out of the river here. Lots of common and grass carp from the lakes as well as gar, buffalo, and drum. I've got an johnboat I usually do it out of though.

What's your bow setup? I use to use an old bear recurve until it broke. Now need to get a new one. Plan to just buy a used bow and set it up

That begs the question, is there anything related to fishing that you can’t do???

I actually figured out how to do that pretty good last year.

Drag a Carolina rig offshore. I can, but I'd rather just go home if that's what it comes down to.

We can both stick bamboo reeds under our finger nails, while watching water boil, drinking kombucha, and listening to a chorus recital that doesn't involve our own kids.  It's still better than fishing a C-rig. :P

I use to bow fish quite a bit when I was young.

We did it at night from a John boat or walking the bank.

I honestly don't see a kayak being the greatest platform for this unless you could stand or use a crossbow.

Seated with a compound or recurve is tough enough from a treestand......seated in a kayak  ?

I can see a kneecap getting knocked off. Lol

Thanks for the info. I won't be shooting from. Seated position and the yak I'm buying will be stable enough for standing shots. I actually thank it's gonna make an outstanding new way to bowfish

This is Chris Funk's (one of the Jackson Kayak pros) setup.  I thought about until I thought about it.  I'd give anyone the ancient Bear setup I have had in the attic  for a couple of decades.

I've got a little Bear Buckmaster Spirit compound with a PSE bottle on it. I've been out of the game quite a bit the last couple years with not having a boat other than my Stratos, but now that I've got my johnboat I'm going to get back after them again. Shooting those silvers out of the air is a blast and I'd like to get a really big, bighead.
