Spool Bearings

Has anyone used these bearings?

I bought some that look really similar from seller hprbearings for a 100B Chronarch.

I've bought several 10 packs off there straight from china. Like $20 bucks, beating the middle man I reckon lol. 

 

I buy the orange seal ceramic, they run well, but can be a bit noisy. So I started putting just a tiny bit of oil on them now. I upgrade the spool bearings on almost all my reels with these.

I'm interested,  can you (besides the noise ?) tell the difference. Do you have a link for these?

@Mjmj I do alot of flipping and an it's effortless for me to make a 30-35'. I can tell instantly by how the spool free spins.

 

Now I say that, I feel it's an improvement. But don't expect a night an day difference. But if I can do a cheap easy upgrade im happy.

Last time I bought from him I paid $23. His prices have gone up. But still little over $3 a bearing is way cheaper. 

 

I will tell you when I bought from over seas like this it's taken up to a month to recieve them.

I've used some that look similar in my Chronarch MGL. I like the concept, and my casting was a bit further. But my word they were noisy. I tried a drop of paraffin in them, which did some good, but I felt the casting distance dropped. So I switched back to the standard bearings and never went back.

I fell victim to the ceramic bearing hype.  Wasn’t impressed with performance or the sound.

Yup don’t see any difference in casting distance but a lot louder when cast and reel.

All my ceramic bearings, I clean, than put a light drop off oil, work in oil for a second, than I give the bearing a puff of air from my compressor. This gives it a very light coat and keeps the noise down while still having good performance.

I gave up on ceramics and went to Japanese ZR half open SS.  The Japanese do not use the ABEC rating system but say their bearings exceed the ABEC 9 performance.  They are $10 apiece and worth every dime.  In reality a bait caster does not reach the rpm benefiting anything beyond an ABEC 5 but these ZR bearings are just really incredibly fast..

Precisely. You can only do so much. 

 

But if you enjoy tinkering and trying to make something better, than more power to the person!

Noise and care.  I just did not enjoy them as much as quality SS and did not see that great a performance difference from my standard Shimano bearings.  Really big difference though in the Japanese SS ZR bearings.

Are the ones youve used a hedgehog bearing? Or what is your source for these?

They have all the attributes you would want in a bearing. Smooth, quiet, consistent, effortless casting. Hedgehog air HD are at the top, too. By no means a necessity but a solid upgrade if you enjoy enthusiast level tinkering.
