I'm looking to upgrade my spinning setup this year with a daiwa tatula lt spinning reel. I am looking at the talt2000d-Xh and the talt3000-cxh. I fish mostly wacky rigs and sometimes dropshot and shakey heads on this setup on a 7' med fast carbonlite rod (this will be upgraded next year to maybe a 13 rod). I am planning on using 10 lb Stren magnathin to increase my line capacity. My question is there any discernible differences in casting with the deep spool versus the standard spool? Which one would you recommend with this setup? Thank you.

In theory the spool with the larger diameter should cast further (straighter line off the spool).  That being said it's probably negligible.

The 3000 LT is what I would do.  More for balance than the line capacity and casting distance.

i am kind of leaning towards the 3000.

The 3000 has the T knob while the 2000 has the smaller I knob.

That's probably the main thing you will notice. But you can always change them out.

I have the 2000 and wish it had the bigger T knob

I think I would probably go with the 3000 for the larger knob.

One thing i just just noticed when doing more research is that it appears that the handle is not secured to the body with the hex key style insert with a screw cap at the end. It looks like both ends just screw into the body on each side. I don't have much experience with this style of reel. I have an older abu Garcia orra s with this style handle (I realize it's a $70 reel vs. a $190 reel) and it has a little bit of play to it. My question is how well this type of handle holds up on these reels? Thanks.

The 2000 and the 3000 CXH (shallow spool version) have the same line capacity. The bodies are almost the same size, but the spool size makes them feel pretty different. I regularly use 8 and 10lb braid (pp) on my 2000 and 15lb on my 3000 CXH. Both would be great for what you want. It’s more of a personal preference which size you choose.

The handles are rock solid.

The 3000 size you got double of max brake, larger gear?, big handle plus 1 more oz. I don’t see any problem with line capacity for both 2000 and 3000 or even 1000 if you plan to use braid or super line, but if for mono/FC line go with bigger spool for line management.

I actually use 1000 for bass, and 2000 for crappie (2mm difference).

The handle screwing into the gear like this is actually a more secure way of doing it. My Tatulas actually have no play in the handle. The one thing you may want to do is replace the bushings in the knob with bearings. That really tightens things up even more, and is worth the few dollars it costs.

Thank you for all the input. It was very helpful. My wife just bought me the Tatula Cxh-3000 for my bday/vday gift on tackle warehouse. I can't wait to test it out in April.

Curious as to your opinion on both of these? I may be picking up one and wanted to see which you'd recommend or your thoughts?

2000 is super small in the Lts. I'd go 2500 or 3000. I'd also opt for the shallow spool and go braid to leader ;)

Great reels, I think I prefer the 2500 though.

I guess I'm weird. I have a Tatula LT 2000 and a Certate LT, Fuego LT, and Exceler LT in 2500, and I wish they were all 2000 size. The 2500 just feels huge to me on a normal bass rod, aside from the Certate because it's on a 7'6" rod.

That sounds not so good!

I like the 2000 size for bass fishing.

I feel the 2500 holds too much unnecessary line.

Most of my LT reels are the 1000 size.

I normally use 10 up to 20 lbs braid.
