Looks like I may have to take a business trip this week that will make me drive from Kansas City MO to Grand Rapids MI. I may have a little free time to/from on my trip or when in GR, I was curious if there were any good fishing stores I should consider stopping at to poke around in? Here in KC we are pretty fortunate to have Bass Pro, Cablea's, Scheels and Academy but I was just curious if there some spots anyone would recommend that is worth a stop?

In the Chicago - NW Indiana metro area, Bass Pro and Cabelas are about the only real choices.

I think there is a cabelss outfitter store in grandville (burb of GR).  I think GR has some mom and pop stores. However, you are now in salmon and trout territory and I don’t know how much bass stuff would be available that a Walmart wouldn’t have.  D&R in Kalamazoo is huge and worth checking out.

i still get the googly eye when i tell family and friends that l fish for bass most of the time.

There is a Cabelas within 10 minutes of downtown Grand Rapids. Al and Bobs is just south on 131 at 68th st. D and R is in kazoo and worth checking out. Not much else in GR

What Abby said.

Al and Bobs is a good long-time mom&pop store in Grand Rapids: https://alandbobssports.com/

D and R is a Van Dam family business in Kalamazoo, owned by KVD's brother and JVD's dad: https://dandrsports.com/

K'azoo is 50 min south of GR, if you have time for a short diversion.

There's also Bass Pro in Portage IN, on I-94 between Chicago and the MI state line

If you’re in to fly fishing there’s a fly shop in Rockford just north of GR. Enjoy GR, you’re coming during some decent weather too. Usually it’s in the low 20’s to upper teens this time of the year.

If you go through chicago, Lee's global tackle in Elk Grove Village is a JDM shop that has a ton of megabass and other JDM stuff.

Ye Old Tackle Box in North Webster IN is a good one to look around in . I have not been there for a few years but they use to have all the BPS stuff that was new old stock at a discounted price. Found quite a few discontinued lures there, but again it's been awhile but I assume it is still worth checking out.

Love that place. Lot of musky gear since Webster is across the street, but it has great bass gear too.

If you're in mid-south Indiana check out Honey Creek Tackle in Bargersville, IN
