Largies4Life Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Daiwa just announced they will be releasing a new reel in the Tatula SV lineup, the Tatula SV TW103. What's everyone's thoughts on this new reel? Do you think it's worth waiting for? https://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/reels/tatulasv/index.html Quote
RichF Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I wish Daiwa would've done something to distinguish all the new Tats from one another. The Elite, Flip/Pitch, and this sucker all look the same! 1 Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted January 24, 2020 Super User Posted January 24, 2020 Imo great reel but needed to get lighter/smaller. I see the new model is down to 6.7 oz, will be interesting if it’s more palmable too. If it achieves all that and will still throw/skip light lures well - you wonder if it will cannabalize Zillion sales. Of course, the Zillion will go thru the same evolution over time. Great reels heading the right direction... 2 Quote

HazeRVA Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 So is this a different reel than the one discussed in the thread below? The handle nut cover is chrome in the link above, where the one in the other thread is black/grey with the normal gold/red/purple to distinguish gear ratios. Quote
Southcoast Bassin Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I have 4 of these reels in the various speeds. Best all around reels under $200 in my opinion. I'll say this … I don't think 7.2 ounces on the older model feels heavy at all. LOL … when I started using bait casters they were 10 to 11 oz. reels. I see this as opportunity to buy a couple more of the older models new at big discount. 3 Quote

I don't see this new Tat being any better than the original except for being lighter and like you said, my tats have never felt heavy to me either fishing them all day. I can't wait for the originals to go on sale now! Quote
Southcoast Bassin Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Maybe I’m just old ...lol But I like the color and character of the Pre 20 Tatula too... Hey if anyone has the pre Tatula in mint shape 6/3:1 ratio? If you want to sell I’m interested Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted January 24, 2020 Super User Posted January 24, 2020 It appears they added the zero adjust casting knob and matt black finish. I'm good with my current Tatula SV's. 2 Quote

Its been out for almost a month now. It's a JDM only model at the moment. Not coming to the US until spring. You can find it for 180$ on various JDM vendors. 3 hours ago, HazeRVA said: So is this a different reel than the one discussed in the thread below? Super User Chris at Tech Posted January 26, 2020 Super User Posted January 26, 2020 I'm certainly always curious to get my hands on new offerings provided by companies I like in my price range. That said, I don't see any issue with my current Tat SVs. If anything, I think the more attractive angle is the deals to be had on the "old" models. Quote
Jason Penn Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 the older tat sv (and zillion) has a cut out in the frame right behind the gearbox that fits my hand perfectly, so i will probably keep them as most of the reels i use. i do like the ipt on the 7:1 in the new model though. just little bit faster than the 6:1 of the older model, but not too fast. i'm excited about the new rebellion rods. the 6'10 mhr is a rod i've been trying to find.
