Super User Spankey Posted January 23, 2020 Super User Posted January 23, 2020 FITT Baits, what do you guys know about them? Seen them for the first time today. Saw half a wall full of them at the shop today. What did catch my eye was the company was d**n near in my backyard here in Penna. Made here or just packaged here? Japanese baits? Chinese baits? Doesn't say made in the US, just reference Timbucktoo PA. Just curious, not dissing anything. They are what they are. Packaged well, premium priced. I know it didn't bite, at least not yet. Would like to get a sample first. Some patterns were unique. A few on the line of standard craws. They might be the next best thing since sliced bread. Who knows. 1 Quote
Dreveal Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 They used to be Winco baits owned by a guy named Al Winco. Al was old school and didn't believe in online orders. Everything was done with a phone call. He was great to talk to. Anyway, I have always liked his baits. Flukes are a little heavier than others and their cold water baits are really good. Also love to throw their 1/8 oz buzzbaits for smallies. I have no clue where they are made, but they have always been well made baits. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 24, 2020 Super User Posted January 24, 2020 Not sure why you hesitated. The Chilly Willy is a very good SMB bait. On a DS, a Draggin' Head, Ned, or whatever you like throwing. They have a cult following on the Susky. 2 Quote
snake95 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Their website is a good reference. https://www.fittlures.com/ 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted January 24, 2020 Author Super User Posted January 24, 2020 Gentlemen I’ll tell you why I hesitated. Has nothing to do with price. Last season I tried to get on board with these baits called Zee Baits. Another batch of guys from my area that are putting out baits. And I’m not Dissing these Zee Baits. It’s not like I tied up a small fortune in them or anything. I’m not doing for diddly with them. They do put out this angry beaver that I’ve caught fish on. I’m using a few color patterns that have been working. Other mfg. of creature beavers work well for me and I did feel from the get go these Zee’s would also. I could not buy a fish on their other styles. Again I am not dissing the baits. It’s me. Not meant to be for me. Was not a lack of fishing them hard or not hard enough. So I turned my back and moved on. I had to. I’m not going to be totally frustrated with a piece of plastic. I can’t. I might try a few of the FITT creatures and craws. This will be my starting point. I did not look to see if the were doing tubes. I’ve made out ok with any tube I’ve generally tried over the years. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted January 24, 2020 Super User Posted January 24, 2020 I had zee same experience....but, man they sure look good to me. Deep Creek and Power Team were same way for me....I take full credit/blame for the lack of production on all 3 brands 2 Quote

I’m not gonna dis them. I’ll give them a try again here or there, sometime again between now and never. Do like the beavers though. Quote
heavyduty Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Their stone catties, chillie willies, and river darters have all produced well for me fishing for smallmouth. As said above, they took over the business from Al Winco and do have a good following. Check out Reel River Adventures, Chris Gorsuch. He's one of if not the best smallmouth guide on the Susquehanna and Delaware Rivers and uses their plastics quite a bit. He's got many pics of their lures and smallmouth pics on his facebook guide page, instagram also. 1 Quote
