I’m looking to get a new reel for frog, flipping/pitching and small swimbaits. I love the look of the Scorpion MGL but the every review of the Bantam is great. Which reel would you guys recommend?

The Bantam really shine for that application.  That’s what I use mine for

I have both reels & they are both the Japanese versions. Hands down the the Bantam is the better reel for what you want it for.

Buy both, you'll love both, and then you'll want a few more of each.

Trust me, I know from experience. :D

I’m right there with you, I have a couple metaniums MGLs and I read about the new 2020 metanium coming soon and now I’m going to need that one too ?.

Which gear ratio should I get on the Bantam? The HG or XG?

HG if you'll be throwing small swimbaits with it. XG works for frogging and flipping but the HG is just fine as well. I'd find it pretty hard to go slow enough with an XG for swimbaits. It's already something that requires concentration with HG.

That’s what I was thinking too, thanks!
