So I have figured out which kayak to buy for myself and my youngest son, and how we plan to rig it out but my oldest son wants a SUP instead of a kayak. So maybe someone here will have some experience with various SUP models who can help me out.

Option #1: The Ocean Kayak Nalu 12.5. It's also the cheapest of the lot, but I have heard from some people that the max. weight should be around 190lbs. He is currently 160lbs, and will likely put on a few more as he gets older but if 190lbs is the max it handles well, that is pushing it too close for me.

Option #2: The Crescent SUP+. These are new so I don't have a lot of data to work with, other than they are supposed to track wonderfully due to the skeg. They are also fairly light in weight. If it does handle 330lbs well (or even 250) this seems like a great option and the price is right too. They come with YakAttack rails as well so I don't have to buy them additionally.

Option #3: The Vibe Maverick 120. These also come with rails and a 450lb weight capacity. I'm fairly sure this is a safe bet, many people seem to consider them the Cadillac option for fishing SUPs. Would go with the hero seat for the added height, but may use a cooler half the time too.

Option #4: The Kaku Voodoo. These seem like the Vibe Maverick with a motor mount and a V-hull --  may be worth the extra cost over the Vibe?

If anyone has any experience with any of the above, I would appreciate any input.

I can't comment on most of your list other than to say the comparable Kaku to the Vibe Maverick is the Kahuna, not the Voodoo. The Voodoo honestly is more of a kayak with a big flat deck than a SUP. It's big, heavy, and stable as hell. It will behave more like a kayak. You're going to want to paddle this from a seated position. It's a fishing machine, especially if sight fishing is your thing.

The Kahuna is a more traditional SUP. And I've heard very good things about it.

Does your son have "seat" time in a fishing SUP?

Hardly. I keep telling him he'd prefer a kayak but he thinks the SUPs are like the coolest thing ever. But he generally does recognize that the hybrids are probably a better all around fit for him. Regardless, with a seat or a cooler he can choose to sit or stand.

One thing that is somewhat of a concern is it would be good to get something that won't soak him much more than a kayak will, since it gets cold up in W. Mass.

Oh yeah the Voodoo is listed as a hybrid skiff/kayak/paddleboard, but that sounds good to me. The Vibe actually looks really good too, but so does the Crescent, but it's fairly new too.

I have a buddy with a Maverick. It's a pretty slick set up. 2 of us have fished off it together, and Vibe has great customer service. I did lose a bunch of weights/hooks/pliers from kicking or bouncing them into the water, but that's how it goes on any SUP.

Yeah, were going to have to rig something to solve that. I have some ideas

Another one to consider is the Native/Liquidlogic one (they're pretty much the same, Liquidlogic usually runs cheaper).  https://www.liquidlogickayaks.com/product/LRVB1215.html  SUPs are not my thing.  I paddled this one, and like every other SUP I've paddled, I didn't get why it was better than a kayak or canoe.  It tracked okay, and there's a place for your crate and cooler, and a (barely) seat.  The only other fishing biased one I've used was a Jackson one and I definitely wouldn't recommend that one (think it was like a SUPerangler, or something).  It was as much of a non-tracking pig as I've come across on a non-inflatable boat in a while.

I don’t really prefer online shopping but my wife has a trip to a lake next week with her friends. she asked me to buy her a SUP.

Is she looking for a fishing SUP, or a recreational SUP for paddling around and swimming? Budget? there are a lot of choices and considerations, so its too hard for me to just pick something for her.

To the OP, have you looked at Diablo and their hybrid boats?

I have a Kaku Wahoo so am biased towards the voodoo too (or the Kahuna), but all of these boats look really fun. I just bought a Larry Chair and am going to rig one of my paddle boards with that, and maybe try fishing off it at some point. But my SUPs may not be wide enough to really be suited for fishing.

I actually posted it earlier this year. We ended up getting the Kaku Voodoo. I actually wanted the Crescent SUP+, but with Covid19 it was sold out virtually everywhere it looked like I might not get one until later this year at the earliest.

The Voodoo is pretty sweet. It's basically a flat top kayak and he can extend his paddle to the max and sit on top of the back of the seat. We rigged it like a kakak too. I still need to get him the bags to put on the side of the seat, but he has a life vest with some tool storage at least. I haven't taken it out myself yet, but he didn't have any problems in some brutal winds and choppy water and boat wakes.

Here's a couple of his videos.

You can see it pretty good here. The comment about people abusing their children was in regards to one woman who was fishing with what seemed to be her daughter and grandkids in kayaks and they kept seeing a fish swim by. When it swam by her and she didn't get it, she threw a fit, telling everyone we're leaving and went on and on.
