Budget Pitching/Flipping Rod

Looking for my first flipping/pitching rod. Would like 7’6” or shorter under $100. What would you all recommend?

If that 'under $100' is firm - I can't recommend a rod specifically designed for flip/pitch.

 I was checking out the abu veritas at BPs on Friday.  I ended up buying a heavy 7ft4 st.croix Bass-x.  however, the veritas was was in the top 3 of what I found while I was looking/shopping at there. I think the one I was looking at was 7ft4. The veritas comes in right at 100 bucks.  If my budget was only $100 Last Friday I would not have been disappointed in purchasing that rod.

I'll second the Tatula XT rod. I have 3 of the XT rods, they look good perform imho at a higher price point, good components. They are a great value.

I use a 7'3 Duckett Ghost Heavy, retails $100 at academy. It's got my vote 

 

I normally pitch 1/2oz punch rig in my river, punched mats with 1.5oz rig, and thrown up decent size swimbaits. It has handled it all well. Very versatile

Take a look at the new Ark Lancer Pro for $99.99.  There are 3 or 4 models that would serve as nice flipping sticks. I know you don't hear much about the brand since they're still relatively new but they make nice rods and they've got a good replacement plan.

Do you have a spinning reel for your new rod?

 

if so, bring it to a local tackle shop or a BPS/Cabela's store and look for a spinning rod that has a medium heavy action and a fast tip that fits your budget and your height.

 

Look at the rod's parameters regarding line test and bait weight to make sure it is what you throw and it matches up with your spinning reel.

 

Put the reel on the rods you are considering to see how they feel when you cast and move it around. Make sure it is not too heavy for you.

 

Lots of spinning rods in the marketplace under $100. Look up "$100 or Less Spinning Rods" on the Internet to see what is out there.

The past few years, I've found several decent close outs at Academy Sports, if there is one close to you that is where I'd look first.  The next few weeks is a good time as they clear out old stock to make room for new.

I got the same email and I was upset at first.  For the last month or so the 765FLIP has been the rod at the top of my list and I had been waiting to get it on sale.  Figures that as soon as I buy another rod the one I wanted goes on sale.  Oh well, I think I'll be happy with the Daiwa for $15 cheaper.

That's a tough deal.  You will be happy with the Tatula XT.  IMO even at $119 it's a great deal.  I believe the XT line is great value for the money.

What’s a better quality blank between the Fury and Daiwa XT?

Got my Tatula rod yesterday. Looks awesome but it’s like nothing I’ve seen before. The rod blank has grooves in it. Very interesting.

You will like how it works too.  Again, for the price, especially the SO price, they are great rods.  90% of my 2020 line up are Tatula or Tatula XT rods.

Well, the Fury cost's a tad more. Quality wise I would say they are pretty even. I've owned Dobyn's rods in the past, and liked them. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them, I just prefer the Diawa XT rods.

Basspro pro qualifier rod on sale now for 69. 13 fishing fate black can be had for same money and both have treated me well.
