Kevin434 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Looking into getting a kastking reel to put on my medium fast rod. i’m just a casual fisherman so it will just be an all around rod and reel for the most part. i was wondering what would be the best kastking reel for reliability and budget. All my reels are now KK . I haven't had any issues with any of them. Are you looking for a spinning reel or baitcaster and what is your budget. You can check out Amazon or Ebay. You can PM with any specific questions you may have. Quote
Plottman1974 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Kastking is the only reel I have ever purchased in 30+ years of fishing that I sent back. There are some tried and true, inexpensive reels out there. Abu Black Max bait caster or Pfleuger President spinning are one of many 1 Quote

Super User Bird Posted January 19, 2020 Super User Posted January 19, 2020 I use Kastking speed Demon Pro's, have several and really like them. To early to comment on durability though. I will say Amazon reviews are very good. Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted January 20, 2020 Super User Posted January 20, 2020 Anything from the Spartacus price point and up should serve you well. Quote

I lost complete faith in Amazon reviews after reading an article about how sellers refund money to people for giving reviews on their product(s). There is no way I can tell if it was an honest buyer or someone getting paid to give a 5 star review. 1 Quote
garroyo130 Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Agreed. What stinks is getting sucked into the vortex of youtube, facebook, amazon reviews to the point you start to believe that something is an incredible product only to buy it and be very disappointed. A lot of these smaller companies do an excellent job marketing their inferior products. 2 Quote
Abby Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 I have been very pleased with my 2 Diego's and 3 kast king reels. I really like the speed demon. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 20, 2020 Global Moderator Posted January 20, 2020 The Assassin is the one I've had the longest and used the most and it's been a nice reel. Quote
Nathan.bass.canada Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Get a daiwa fuego and forget kastking. If you want a chineseum reel buy it directoy from doyo or banax... Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Kastking reels seem to be a hit or miss proposition. I hear good things and bad things. The only Kastking reel I've handled seemed to have some serious issues. It screamed like a banshee when I casted. That reel was a Kastking Speed Demon. I'm not going to say don't buy Kastking, they serve tons of people well. I think the chances of getting a bunk reel is there. Personally, I would look at other companies. Quote
