LSU Fan Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 At present I have a MinnKota MK345PC on-board marine battery charger. I've believe the charger overheated with possible temp sensor damage. I am in the process of more diagnosis but am thinking I will need to replace this charger due to being informed by MinnKota no servicing of charger components are available. My question to all and everyone is what would be a good marine battery 3 bank on-board charger? Other than MinnKota, due to the expense, I would sure appreciate any recommendations! Quote
Super User Scott F Posted January 18, 2020 Super User Posted January 18, 2020 None of them are 100% reliable. Good ones are all pricey. I went through two others including a Pro Mariner before I got my current Minn Kota MK220PC which is the 2 bank, 20 amp version of yours. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted January 18, 2020 Super User Posted January 18, 2020 My MK in my previous boat failed after 7 years and damaged the battery connected to the failed bank, when it did. I replaced it with a Cabelas brand made by Pro Mariner which was problem free for 2 years until I sold the boat. Current boat came with a Dual Pro Professional charger and it has worked flawlessly for 7 seasons. Dual Pros are the only repairable chargers on the market. 1 Quote
LSU Fan Posted January 19, 2020 Author Posted January 19, 2020 Thanks Guys. Thanks for the reviews on chargers and as I figured you get what you pay for when it comes to chargers. I finally completed my checks and diagnosing my present MK345 to find all appears to be OK and all working correctly. As I thought with the near freezing temps here in NC these past two days the batteries won't take a charge as fast making me think the temp sensor was going bad. I did replace the TM batteries since I have had them for over 6 years so now just ratchet strap the batteries down and off to the lake I go. Quote
DanielG Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 For what it's worth, I've got this one on Amazon. I've used it for two summers almost every other day, charging two 100 amp batteries in a totally electric boat. I cover about 3-5 miles each time. I do a lot of trolling. It's been great. I also have an older cousin of this one in my camper for the past 8 years. One of the charging sides has died but the other is still working. 1 Quote
TheRodFather Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 I have a NOCO 3 bank. It is going on about 4 years now, working great. Quote

Great price on Amazon and I have not had any issues. If I got 6-7 years like the guys above, I would.be okay with that. Quote
LSU Fan Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 I guess I jumped the gun a bit. Thought I was going to have to replace my onboard charger but nope not yet. Got new Everstart 29DC's hooked-em up and all is going good. That makes 2 yrs 9 months, April 12, 2017 - January 17,2020 for my MinnKota 345PC. Guess that's that for the time being, at least till the MinnKota gives up the ghost! At least now I have some good information from you guys on what chargers to choose from, Thanks all. Quote

The lithium marine battery banner you have on the bottom of your page requires a special lithium battery charger, if that is what you have , could be something on my iPad? I have a Norco Geniuos 3 bank 12 amp onboard charger that work good for AGM's. Tom Quote
