Anybody here like me and make impulse buys on things you don't really need because it's a good deal or too good to pass up? I try to stay off the auction site unless I am looking to make a specific purchase and I go there first to see if I can save some money. But last night I was bored and decided to browse around. Typed in "Shimano rod" and narrowed my search to "newest listed", "buy it now", and "new condition". I got a brand new Curado M glass rod for $100 shipped. Cool, saved $60 and got a new rod to try. Well dang, now I need a reel. Typed in "Shimano reel" and used the same things to narrow it down. Got a brand new Tranx 200 for $140 shipped. Didn't really need either, but I saved $120 in all and got some new gear.

Not only that but I had to get in on the 6th sense deal yesterday on TW and ended up with 12 of them. I just tell my wife, the more I buy the more I save LOL

Happens to me on a weekly basis, if not more often.  That d**n monkey gets me every time.

I also did the 6th Sense deal on TW...

I think that was once referred to in a presidential debate as voodoo economics.

Yeah I just spent $12500 on a new to me minivan that was 3000 under blue book value that I had no reason to buy. My current van is fine. I just wanted something newer. - I think

Lol, I think.....No telling how many times I've said that to myself.

I tell my wife all the time that she's going to go broke while saving money!

*It's nice to know I am not alone - I believe I buy hard body lures  , soft plastics , jigs , etc.  smartly but the wife just doesn't understand stating "You will be dead before you can use it all " ! She hates when I reply : "Then great - another day I have cheated death and gone fishing with a new lure , new pack of soft plastics , etc. " !  ... The wife (sigh) is simply not amused .

Picked up 3 Tatula SVs this winter for 100-120, all NIB. Didn't need any of them, but couldn't pass up on them for that price.

I do this all the time. Funny how a man can figure out ways to justify things to himself. I always think...someday I'm going to need them and I'll have to spend more etc. Lol

I’m trying to cut back on this this year, enough gear to fish effectively but not to a pint where I’m never gonna use everything

For the longest time I had a post-it on my monitor with “It’s not a good deal if you don’t need it in the first place” written on it.

It helped a little.

Just bought a shimano ultegra for $100 new in box. Don’t even have a rod to put it on but I’m a sucker for a good deal.

Oh did I mention i bought an expride frog rod on Black Friday and don’t have a reel for it either. ?

A few months ago my local Gander Outdoors was going out of business and had all their St. Croix rods 50% off so I bought another Legend Tournament Walleye that I didn't need but felt it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Some eBay seller had a pair of brand new in the box Fuego CTs in the 7.3 and 8.1 ratios for $130 OBO shipped.  Looking at his selling history, he seems to sell a bunch of random stuff, no fishing tackle except for those Fuegos.  I threw him an offer of $80 and he accepted, they'll be here tomorrow.  I don't need them, but I am excited to have my first decent low profile reels.

I love my Fuego, nice matte black finish way more subtle and connection-knot friendly than my tatula CT.

I thought the fuego and tatula ct were the exact same reel?

Minor differences. The Tatula CT has the T-Wing system and two additional bearings...in the handle-knobs. Otherwise they are the same reel.
