My New/Used trolling motor.....

   I picked up a New/Used OMC Trolling Motor last week for  $100.00. I got it all mounted on my boat and took it for a test drive today.

 Well she ran great pushed my little boat all around the lake today without a hitch. I didn't catch anything but it was still better than Work.

$100.00 is a sweet deal! what pound/thrust is it? Nice pictures as well!

They are still the best design shaft for weed lakes. They came in a 12/24 46lb and I think that one is, and a 56 lb 24 volt.

The 56 lb prop is much larger and great in the wind and the 46 lb is smaller and good in weeds. They both fit each other if you redrill the hole so If you see one grab it.

Foot petal cables were allways iffy.

I think the small prop model is 41# thrust. I just gave one away for a spare to a guy that bought my bass boat with the HO model 56# installed. I still have a 56# HO model on my jon boat.

The steering cable will break at some point so a spare is a good idea.

I can tell in the picture that the mount has been broken and replaced. Most of the time that happens if you bump into a dock with the skeg, be careful (did it twice and its a tough change out if you can find the parts). My first fiberglass bass boat had the 41# model and I wore it out.

You can put a puck type sonar transducer between the nose cone and skeg-the skimmer style doesn't fit to well.

I have a brand new 12" prop that uses the cotter key like yours for a spare if you ever need one. The one I sold with the boat had a nut to hold on the prop.

Is yours the 42" shaft?

Thanx I talked to those guys the day after I baught it. Really nice and helpful.

It is the 41lb thrust with the small prop. The prop should be 8 3/4 inchs. The one on it is 8inchs. I have to get a new one. Im not sure of the shaft length I didn't measure it.

The steering cables on those things are terrible and will break at any given moment.

The steering cable will last a long time if the bends are kept as large as possible and the cable is kept from bouncing around a lot when trailering and boating. In your mounting, it will be better if the head is rotated 180 degrees to lessen the amount it has to bend when stowed.

Pickup that spare prop from Wayne. It's a little challenging to drill the hole for your motor. On a windy you will not believe how much better it works.

I was wondering when someone would notice it. I need to build a platform for it I was thinking a 4x4, carpet it and mount it up.

Wayne how much do you want for that prop?

I checked into the cost for a ateering cable 71.99 almost as much as I paid for the TM.
