NorCalBassn_PJ Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Just ordered an Endurance 765 MMH Fast Casting on TW for the Christmas sale. Will this be a good multipurpose rod for shmedium glides, 3/4-1oz football jigs/swingheads, A-Rigs and smallish Swimbaits? Is the tip fast and sensitive enough for a jig or bottom contact presentation in deep water? Any reviews would be cool. I love the Powells I have. Just wondering how everyone who has this rod likes it. Quote
Smalls Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 I just got my Endurance 775 in last week. It was a warranty replacement for my Max3D I had for 3 years. From my understanding the two lineups share the same blank, with the Max getting nicer guides/cork/etc. I was a little disappointed with the cork quality on the Endurance, but I’m a form>function guy, so not a dealbreaker for me. It’s probably my favorite rod I own. Incredibly light and balanced, very, very sensitive. I used to hate dragging a football jig in deep water before this rod. it’ll launch a 3/4 oz football jig d**n near out of sight. It is absolutely definitely NOT a glidebait rod. It’s a broomstick, you’ll rip any sort of treble hooks out without even trying. It is a fantastic frog rod. I’ve pulled some biggins out of some really gnarly cover, and with relative ease. Smaller frogs can be a challenge to get out far due to the tip being so fast. Might be easier with the 765, I know the tips not as fast on it. Paired with the right reel, the weight and balance of the rod makes it easy to pitch/punch all day without much fatigue. Quote
NorCalBassn_PJ Posted January 11, 2020 Author Posted January 11, 2020 Yeah I’m hoping the 765 will be a jack of all trades type of rod. I have a feeling it will be. I don’t need it to do anything spectacularly. Just most things listed above pretty decently. I definitely figured the 775 would be a broomstick type rod but I fish mid-gauge jigs at best so I didn’t need a broomstick anyway because I would bend the hooks out. I fish clear Spotted Bass reservoirs mainly so I need something to be versatile enough to throw a few different things well Quote

It has a lot uses, but it’s not a “7 ft mh, do it all” type rod. If you’re gentle with hookset, you shouldn’t bend anything out besides hooks on the lighter side. Quote
NorCalBassn_PJ Posted January 11, 2020 Author Posted January 11, 2020 I didn’t mean it in the sense of do-it-all but in the sense of heavier duty or bigger type bait do it all. Obviously won’t be throwing a shaky head or drop shot or ned rig or anything like that on it. And obviously won’t be throwing 8-10” hudds or deps 250s on it either. But just about everything in the middle of that, aside from a couple other baits, I believe it will be good for. But was hoping someone who has the exact model would chime in at some point lol. No offense though. Quote

I am thinking of getting a 765. thanks I have the same rod, it's a good general purpose rod. I have used it for almost every lure including up to 3oz swim baits (tiny klash, gantarel, etc). If you have any questions you can send me a message since this is an older thread. Quote
Fishydishy Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Hello everyone! I am thinking of getting the 765 for flipping. The rod weighs 3.7oz on their website. That’s too light to be true. Can someone confirm please. 1 Quote

It's still light, but not that what is stated. My zbone nfc x-ray 7ft3 mh was 3.8oz for comparison. Powell is 3 inches longer and rated to 3oz, not sure why they stated 3.7 oz rod weight. Quote

It's tip heavy with lighter reels, but doesn't really bother me. I normally have a 200 sized reel on it since its kind of all purpose from soft plastics to smaller swimbaits. The taper is nice also. It took a backseat to my Majorcraft Days in the all purpose dept. since I can throw 3/8-6oz on it. Quote

I got the 735c, and it weighs 5.5oz, balance point is at the hook keeper with a heavy reel. Quote

I got the rod when it fist released so your rod either weighs more due to being counterbalanced or the blank has changed. Quote
