I just found that the ceramic is missing on the tip of one of my spinning rods. Now I need a new rod and a tip repair kit.? Then I'll have a excuse for a new reel.

My wife once told me I have too much fishing stuff. I told her that that may be the dumbest thing she has ever said to me. She just shook her head with a smirk and walked away.

No Doubt ~

Now we just have to figure out the routing number to the The Bait Monkey's checking account.

Or just 'take a gander' at his credit-card.

There's only really one place for him to keep it -

And I'll not be having any of that action.

Plus it makes it hard to read.

(Oh, and he never takes his hat off)

There's a 99.275939% chance it'll be another Stradic ci4 2500.

Need none.  Check for sale ads every day.  Last week I received 3 new-2-me casting rods.  Was looking hard at the near mint J Dream in the flea market, but managed to hold off until someone else bought it.  Whew.  Monday I am supposed to receive my TW order...a few hooks and several crankbaits.  Couldn't pass up the sale although I held off a day and some in my cart were sold out so I got off cheaper than my original order.

My wife has learned to use her inside voice when it pertains to my fishing.

Yup, it has to do with not being Able to go fishing. I just need one rod for this off season. I’m holding off for as long as I can        When I can go fishing I don’t feel the need for more gear. I’m at the point now where I’m watching other people’s in boxing videos(and that makes me sad).

Bait monkey has gotten me for 2.  A BPS carbon light my 7ft 2.0 combo. A falcon Jason Christie 6’8  square bill/spinner bait rod for 40 bucks on clearance at Walmart.

I still want a nice heavy pitching/flipping rod in the 1 1/2-2oz range.  I could use another spinning rod.  That carbon light 2.0 spinning rod felt really good.  Gander outdoors had another one I really liked

Nice! My Walmart’s fishing section just plain sucks. All of the ones around me- and it’s getting worse. More and more junk. Used to have a few Falcon rods- now just cheap stuff.

No the selection is getting worse.  I bought a skeet Reese crank rod last winter 50 bucks on clearance from Walmart.  Currently the Owosso Walmart has 4 skeet Reese rods ( black and yellow ones) and 1 more falcon in the clearance section. After that they have halo’s and lighting rods for fifty bucks.  I bought a lighting shock rod 2 years ago for my 2nd ever bait caster .  but, I’m ready to up grade with a the higher end heavy rod I was talking about in the first post.  The lighting rod works fine but, it’s the only rod I’ve ever owned that hurts my hands when I set hard on a fish.

Walmart does have some decent  bait casters. Pro max for 70 bucks and 2 Lews reels in $75-$80 dollar range.  Also , some lews spinning reels.

the rest is junk though

Same here.  Don't know why I bother to occasionally walk through their sporting department.  Total waste of time.

The monkey got me for a bunch of gear around Christmas.  I have 1 rod and reel still on my list.  I put together my 2020 rod line up and have 1 hole to fill:  flipping/pitching combo.  Once that’s filled, I should be good to go for awhile.  I hope.

I’m sure the monkey will get me on baits at some point.

I've been on Ebay buying discontinued baits. I really need to be stopped.

My significant other encourages me. She noticed that with the three new rods that I added this year that I have no more space on my rod rack, so she bought me a fishing cabinet to replace this old plastic cheapo cabinet the boys used to use for toys that I took over for fishing gear that doesn't fit or come with me in the tackle bag.

So she bought me a fishing cabinet with a rack to hold storage trays on the bottom and an open shelf on the top and 5 rod holders on each side. I don't have plans to buy any more bass rods in the near future, but I can let the boys use a side for their rods and make mine more accessible on the rack and put the catfish and trout rods which I use less facing the wall, and maybe add some better trout rods too

Picked up a st.croix bass-x 7ft 4 inch heavy rod to day at bps in auburn hills.  Kinda waisted my time going there.  I wanted a bass mojo but, they did not have any heavy actions.  Carbon light 7’8 heavy came in 2nd ( if tip was faster I’d would have bought it) 3rd place was the abu veritas .   Not really a good selection of heavy rods.  There were a couple more in the 150-180 range but, after picking them touching and playing with them. none jumped up and screamed by me.  So I spent the rest on tackle.

So Just in the last month I have bought the carbon light combo, the falcon mh square bill rod( Walmart clearance 40 bucks) and  the bass-x.  I just have to by a reel for the falcon.  Unless I get a m 7ft spinning combo this summer I’m done buying rods and reels untill next year
