Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 I got a chuckle out of the big deal they make of it. Lews is P2, Shimano is Xship, while Daiwa is eh, how we done it for years. 2 Quote
jbrew73 Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 The pinion was a weak point on lews reels and the reason I got away from them. The new P2 reels should be a welcome addition to the lineup. I think they will out cast anything on the market but the rough gear feel drove me nuts. 1 Quote

I have 2-7ft 4 power Kistler KLX rods ready to be dressed up and taken out. 1 is a general Trig, light jig rod-12-15FC 1 is a swim jig rod-15FC SOOOOooooo here is where I am stuck. Custom Lite Hyper Mag OR Tournament pro? I have 3 TP1HLAs that I got late last fall and fished them for 3-4 trips. They fished great. Nothing bad to say on those. I just have an opportunity to get really what every I want for these 2 KLX rods. I could even go up to the Pro Ti if I wanted to. The appearance of the Pro Ti is not my style though. What is your opinion Mike? Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted February 3, 2021 Super User Posted February 3, 2021 Ok I broke down and bought a Custom Lite. I own the tournament pro and lfs reels. I love all of them. I have not fished with the reel but I did take it for casting and pitching practice. The reel is ultra light. It's unreal how light it is. It is the ultimate finesse baitcaster IMHO as I am casting 1/10 oz Ned rigs with no backlash and great distance. I then spooled it with 20 lb mono and started pitching 1/2 oz. Jigs. It pitches further than any reel I've ever used. I would Definately try the custom lite on your klx. 1 Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted February 3, 2021 Super User Posted February 3, 2021 Just to be contrary ........ I wonder whether the gold-colored large-arbor spool from the Pro SP SLP would fit on the Custom Lite SLP. Might be the ultimate light-braid baitcaster with a lower gear ratio, eh? Move over, Shimano Curado 70 MGL K! jj Quote

What is your opinion Mike? Lenny, we’re good, hope you are as well. Lews has more models than I can keep track of. I’ve had ABUs on the same platform though. Mechanically there’s not a lot of difference. It boils down to the features that appeal to you personally, feel in hand and the deal. Hope that helps even though not definitive 1 Quote

I think one of each is the play to be honest. Each is gonna feel better doing one thing or the other. I can figure that out using them. One thing I did settle on was not being able to like the Pro Ti look. Not my deal there. 9 hours ago, Delaware Valley Tackle said: Lenny, we’re good, hope you are as well. It all helps. I am looking at what all 3 have in common now and what are the differences that drive the price. I am gonna have it figured out today then settle on buying by the weekend. I have more time if needed. Not sure I can hurry up and wait though. Quote

If I was going all new current models I’d look seriously at the Daiwa’s Fuego and Tatula. 1 Quote
