crankbait2009 Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Every year, towards the end of May, I take a week long trip to Eastern Kentucky to do some fishing with a friend. We hit up a few lakes in the area (Lake Vesuvius (Ohio), Grayson Lake (Kentucky), and a couple other small ones on the Kentucky side. Each year I go, we end up catching dinks all day long. Never any bass over a pound, ever. We certainly catch a decent amount each time, but the weight isn't there. I don't expect this year to be any different, but I'll make the trip in hopes that we'll hook into a decent sized bass. Anyone on here fish Lake Vesuvius or Grayson Lake and have better luck than we do? Quote

Never been on either but i imagine its a standard end of may bite. Put an electric shad rage swimmer on the back of a green pumpkin jig and pumpngo! or a chatterbait Quote
Senko Junkie Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 Lake Vesuvious does have big bass but it will be the only fish you catch that day. Two years ago, my fishing buddy and I went to Vesuvious maybe 14-15 times. Only two fish were caught but they both were 5+. Grayson has also produced some 5+ the last few years but just like you said, you will catch 10 dinks to every 1-2 # fish. I mostly fish at Yatesville in Louisa. Although they are also full of dinks, the odds of catching a keeper bass is higher in my mind. We have caught more 2-3 pound fish from Yatesville and it also can yield a 5+ bass. The only problem with Yatesville is high fishing pressure. This pic is one of two 5 # that he caught at Vesuvious out of many days of fishing there 1 Quote
