I've had great luck with the Spro rats. I found that I do the best on them when I slow them way down. I use a very slow retrieve so that they are doing a slow wobble on the surface usually parallel to shore. 1 Quote

The most expensive one I have personally purchased would probably be a rapala x rap and shadow rap at about $9. I was also gifted an Alabama rig when they first came out that was probably $40 worth of gear all together but I no longer own it. Capt Neptune took it from me on the second cast. On 1/8/2020 at 10:20 PM, swhit140 said: Probably less than $15.00, I sure wouldn't buy anything over $20.00. I don't feel there is any advantage of spending high dollar for lures. I can go fish with a $2-$6 lure/baits and catch 10-20 fish a majority time I go fish for a day. On 1/8/2020 at 11:07 PM, scaleface said: Nine bucks . I think I catch more on the rogues anyway. I used to feel the same way...but fishing for musky it was a reality i couldn't avoid, paying 15 or 20 for a bait when I really didn't have much money... what it taught me is taking great care and perfecting my knot craft. I also paid more attention to my line and lost a lot less fish. I don't mind paying a little bit more for floating baits because I wont lose them! On the other hand, i own a lot of jackhammers and question why they cost 18 bucks...but they do work very well. Overall I am surprised so many haven't sprung for a few lucky Crafts or other 15 dollar baits. 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted January 12, 2020 Super User Posted January 12, 2020 It's a tie at $19.99 between the Megabass Pop Max or Megabass S-crank. Since I don't yet own a boat (someday), I never fish larger swimbaits, but that's something I hope to get into someday. Quote
Derek1 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 &68 custom swim bait I got for Christmas. I’ve bout a couple of the spro rats 304/ sizes a handful of pop Max’s and some jackhammers. The jack hammers I might as well buy 3 go to the lake take the first two out of the package and just throw them in the lake and fish the third one till I loose it. I’m cursed with them. Either snag them or cast them off right away. Supposed to be $68 swim bait and 30/40 size rats. Realistically the money Spent on the same exact soft plastic over and over again Trumps hard bait purchases in most of us I’m sure Quote
Super User gim Posted January 12, 2020 Super User Posted January 12, 2020 Are we only talking about bass lures or do muskie lures count too? Some of my muskies lures are are worth about $40 and almost all of them cost at least $15-$20. 1 Quote

billmac Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 I was in Dick's last night and looking at Jackhammers for $20, and wondering if they were 4 times more effective than regular Z-Man chatterbaits for $4.99. I have trouble believing they are. Quote

schplurg Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Well the lure I would hate to lose the most is one I made myself. It doesn't have very good action, it's a popper that's too heavy - oops! But I'd rather any other bait than this little guy. I've only tried it once, it cost practically nothing to make, but it's the most valuable to me My homemade crank bait spins like a top as you reel it in (totally worthless), but I'd hate to lose that one too. I buy cheap stuff. Quote
WI_Angler1989 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Probably just a Whopper Plopper for me too. I do have a couple of Vision 110 jerkbaits and the smaller size as well (78?), but all of those were winter time sales at a local sporting goods store. Probably paid half price! Quote
