I have a 14' Jon boat.  I'm don't want to add a deck at this time since I have young children I take fishing and don't want them rolling off the deck and into the water ;)

Has anyone tried adding carpet directly to the stock jon boat aluminum floor and sides?  I'd like to add some material to help make the interior quieter.  As we all know if you aren't super careful any careless maneuver can  really make  some noise!

Thanks :)

Carpeting a Jon boat is really simple, cut to fit, & glue it down   ;)

moloch16, that is pretty much the whole point of glueing it down. If it is easy to remove, then it won't stay attached after it gets wet or sun baked.

I use indoor/outdoor carpet glue and do attach the carpet directly to the hull of my jon boats.

I've heard it's hard to get up once it's glued down. Any comments on this?

Yes it is hard to remove it once glued, but you don 't do that like every month, my friend Pedro glued artificial turf to his boat about 15 years ago and by the time we removed it was still in pretty good shape, the only reason to unglue was that he was doing some upgrades to the boat that required the removal of it. But actually it wasn 't that hard at all, more like time consuming rather than hard, with patience, time and a good glue solvent it came out quite easily.

I have a friend who used rhino liner and its mint. Quiets it down without too much weight, grips perfectly when you're walking/standing/casting, and it waterproofed a few leaky rivets!

Spill some Fish Formula II on it & it will come unglued  ;)
