NittyGrittyBoy Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I fish a muddy river pretty often, and let's just say black crankbaits get throwed quite regularly. Also change skirts on my War Eagles to Black. Dont be afraid to throw black. 2 Quote

I'll usually get one of a hard lure when I'm trying a company or pattern out, see how it works and whether I like it or not, and then I'll go back to the well. Keeps me from having a closet full of junk I'll never fish (which, incidentally, is the same reason I cancelled my MTB subscription). Quote

I've spent more dang money on baits because of them. Got this guy this fall on a Red Eyed Shad. No idea how it didn't bite me off. Even had the bait way down in it's mouth. 2 Quote

It’s about the size of a bluegill. Hah, man I read “cichlid” as “cicada” and got really alarmed when I read your last sentence. 3 Quote

Good tidal water color pattern. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted January 8, 2020 Super User Posted January 8, 2020 Use black crankbaits for stained water or night fishing! 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 8, 2020 Super User Posted January 8, 2020 When I was night tournament fishing Poe's Super Cedar 300 black w/orange belly and Normans DD22 Black and Black red craw were my go to crank baits during the dust to dark transition time. Poe's is a wooden lure no rattles and Normans plastic with rattles, never knew which lure the bass preferred until trying them. You would think the rattle lure would work better at night or very low light but Poe's caught more 6 lb to 7 lb bass then Normans over a 10 year period. Tom 1 Quote

That seems to have the profile of some Lucky Craft cranks I've used -- a profile that works really well at night time in the early summer up in the northeast. Quote
crankbait2009 Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 For me, more times than not, I have a Bandit 200 BLACK crankbait tied on. It performs tremendously for me. But I'm also in greenish/stained waters 1 Quote

I'm thinking about spray painting a few cheap Walmart baits that I have duplicates of. Quote
JoePhish Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 During the warmer months I do weeknight tournaments. I have a separate box that has a bunch of black and black/blue hard baits in it. I lost a discontinued black Strike Pro lipless this season. I'll have to find a replacement black lipless before we start up again. Quote

waymont Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Strike King Slab Hammer mini crank in black is a stream SMB killer. Overall it's a great small crank. 1 Quote
