Vilas15 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Thread a worm onto the hook (see the little barbs?) then hook it up to a bottom bouncer or inline sinker and troll it for walleye. Its called a spinner rig. 3 Quote

Its called a spinner rig. This is the correct answer. It's not great for casting - the inertia when casting throws the worm off much of the time. 1 Quote

Inline sinker I get........I bought some to try, i was thinking to hook a dead shad on there and fish it like a worm...........the package has rigging instructions on the back, either inline sinker, or using it with a bobber..........using it with a bobber doesnt make sense to me, why would you have a spinner on there if its just sitting there floating? Any body of water has some sort of current going - that'll get the spinner turning. Also, if there's some waves...even just ripples...the up and down motion caused with the bobber will get the spinner turning as well. As Vilas said - it's more a walleye rig than a bass rig. 1 Quote

I didnt realize that, trolling made sense to me but not the bobber.........I was hoping to fish it like a plastic worm with a dead shad on there.....figure the spinner will give it the action of a lure, coupled with the scent and look of actual bait. gonna give it a shot and see how it goes. Its a big wire with a weight on it. The arm drags on the ground and keeps the spinner suspended off the bottom as you troll over areas with changing depths or rocks. You could cast it with an inline weight i suppose but trolling is best. 1 Quote

Mainline gets tied to the little loop at the bend in the wire bottom bouncer. So you've got the leg with a weight on it that drags the ground, and the spinner tied to the arm up off the bottom. Cant be cast at all. Also if you stop trolling it will lay over on the bottom so they only work when moving. 1 Quote
