Smells like fish Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 I bought the SK tour grade football jig in green pumpkin 1/2oz. I bought a couple at cabelas and a couple at Walmart the packaging is different between stores and the cabelas has a sticker on the pack advertising it has Gamakatsu hook. There is no mention of the hook brand on the Walmart packaging. Any ideas if all tour grade come with Gamakatsu hooks? Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted December 30, 2019 Super User Posted December 30, 2019 Good question. It is possible Strike King makes a cheaper version for Walmart -- many other brands certainly do the same thing. Do the hooks look the same? Quote
Smells like fish Posted December 30, 2019 Author Posted December 30, 2019 The hooks do look the same but I cannot believe it wouldn't say Gamakatsu somewhere on the package if indeed it was. The cabelas package says made in costa Rico and the Walmart package says made in the USA. I dunno wth is going on lol After reading on Strikekings page I read where the tour grade is stated to have Gamakatsu hooks so I believe anything sold as tour grade will follow that protocol. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted December 30, 2019 Super User Posted December 30, 2019 The one's at WalMart could have been hanging on that shelf for a few years... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 30, 2019 Super User Posted December 30, 2019 Most Strike King jigs are $3-5. I buy hand made in the USA jigs from Siebert Outdoors. You should, too. http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/ My favorite are Dredge Brush jigs with wire tied skirts. They're $3.90 a piece. None have ever failed. 1 Quote
