Merry Christmas everyone! My lovely wife got me a swimbait set up and I just wanted to ask everyone's opinion on a few things.... so it's a Daiwa DXSB 8' Heavy fast for 2-8 oz. Quantum Monster 300PT. My first question is line. I'm a braid to leader guy so right now I have 65 lb sufix braid and a 20 lb mono leader.  Would this line be an all around good choice? My next question is bait size. I know its rated 2-8 oz, but could i throw say a 5 inch paddle on a 3/4, or should I just use one of medium heavy?  Also, any suggestions of baits is much appreciated. So far I have a few livetarget, savage gear, twerk minnows, arashi glide, Ima glide fluke, and a 168 s-waver.

Nice haul! I got into the swimbait game for a little bit and did some research and ended up with 20lb Pline CXX co poly. Some use 17lb. I don't use a leader. Line memory is not too bad but some line conditioner definitely helps. That is some strong line.

As for the lower weights on the rod, you'll just have to try it and see if they load the rod enough to be thrown effectively. I have a dobyns fury SB 795 and I cant throw anything under 2oz very well with it.

I hear that’s a good soft bait rod. I recommend a weedless bait with a beast hook. 3:16 rising sons are readily available and get bit. You can fish it weighted for a fast presentation/bottom crawling or weightless for a slow upper column swim. The 6.75” killed it for me this year.

If you plan on using the lures posted consider exchanging the Heavy Daiwa  SB rod Daiwa MH SB rod. The Heavy is good for swmbait lures 2 to 5 oz like 68 and 8" Hudds.
