Super User fishwizzard Posted December 28, 2019 Super User Posted December 28, 2019 As the title says, I am looking for the perfect tube of crazy glue to carry in my tackle bag. I use glue to hold Z-man plastics to jigheads for my Ned rigging. Due to rust issues I really prefer to glue them up as I need them and I have never found the perfect tube of glue. I am looking for the following things in my dream-glue: 1) A good solid cap. I keep the tube in a little baggie but still. 2) Gel or low drip Simple right? Apparently not as all the ones I have tried have either leaked, dried out, or are so thin that it gets everywhere. http://www.krazyglue.com/product/details/all-purpose-krazy-glue-no-run-gel#.Xgam98BIGEc This one sucks because the body is too weak and will burst. https://www.gorillatough.com/product/gorilla-super-glue-gel/ This stuff sucks as it takes too long to dry and sometimes will not dry at all if the plastic is wet. https://www.officesupply.com/office-supplies/general-supplies/tape-glue-adhesives/super-glues/loctite-super-glue-easy-squeeze-super-glue-liquid-each/p8567.html?ref=pla&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=1o1&scid=scplp8567&sc_intid=8567&gclid=CjwKCAiA9JbwBRAAEiwAnWa4Q58oq4z-_ELxxu_XF11UMTu8jycwT0yruCpLembvK3Guq_JH_nzfDhoCEQ8QAvD_BwE This stuff sucks as the cap comes off easily and it drys out. Any glue-fanciers out there who have one that they love? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted December 28, 2019 Super User Posted December 28, 2019 I get this from my local hobby store with their name on it, but this is their supplier. Gap-filling, tight cap, spill-proof when capped...lasts for years without hardening up long as you cap it properly. https://www.amazon.com/Insta-Cure-Filling-Bob-Smith-Ind/dp/B0000DD1QQ Quote
DanielG Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Interestingly... I use a fair amount of superglue, although it's the thin stuff. I share your pain regarding loose caps, clogged dispeners, etc. I have found, much to my surprise, the two small tubes in a package at the Dollar Tree to work the best. They shouldn't but they have for me. Every time I remove the cap the nozzle is still clear. They also have the same thing in a gel. It shows it here as having to purchase 24 but they are single cards on the rack in the store. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 28, 2019 Super User Posted December 28, 2019 For my glue it now - and use it immediately gluing needs. I depend on Zap-a-gap. https://www.amazon.com/Pacer-Technology-Zap-Zap-Adhesives/dp/B00SXJJ2QI/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=zap+a+gap&qid=1577495696&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE4N1gxTkw4Nk9LNUkmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA2MjQ2OTZTRjlVSVdFVlc3Q1kmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDgzNTk2M0VWVEE4MFpJOUdEWSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= This stuff is pretty aggressive, quick drying - and dries hard. Super User fishwizzard Posted December 28, 2019 Author Super User Posted December 28, 2019 Thanks guys, I knew someone would have a glue they love. I will pick up the suggestions and see how they work. Quote
OCdockskipper Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 One more... Loctite sells a basic super glue at Staples that comes in a small .03 oz container. You get 20 -25 applications per tube, so you never have the problem of it getting dried out or the cap becoming stuck. Plus if you step on it or drop it overboard, it was not a big container full of glue, so no major loss. The glue works great on Ned rigs & knots. It comes in a 4 pack for less than 5 bucks, so I buy 2 or 3 packs to cover me for the year. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 28, 2019 Global Moderator Posted December 28, 2019 Loctite gel with the light grey bottle and blue cap, the last one that you had issues with apparently. I don't glue my Ned rigs anymore but when I did, that stuff works great. I still use it for gluing weedguards on my jigs and it holds those great too. I kept in in the center compartment in my boat and never had a cap come off or dry out. Tried a lot of different glues and never found one better. 3 Quote

Any glue-fanciers out there who have one that they love? The last one, that you didn’t like, has been my go to. Lock-tite gel. I like the way you squeeze the side of the container to apply. It’s deceiving though, there is just a small tube inside that larger container. I glue up my Ned Rigs at home ahead of time so I don’t take a chance on glueing myself to my reel or to the boat. 1 Quote

That bottle style is fine at home, but the cap twists it's self loose too easily for pack use. I suppose I could put it in an old Altoids tin, but I am always trying to reduce bulk in my pack. I used to glue up at home but I would always end up with too many pre-glued or too few. I just do like 2-3 at home and the rest on the water now. Quote

Maybe use some medium strength (blue) loctite thread lock on the cap.? Quote
